Thumbs up Great site for Finding Items for Free

Found this great site a few days ago to test out.

Code:
http://www.freecycle.org
People list items they are giving away for free because they do not need it anymore or there is something wrong with it. The items are for personal use. It is first reply first serve basis so you have to check every day.

Oh that has been around for ages. I remember that group. If it's dead now (haven't looked yet) it wasn't always like that and was a pretty nifty place to find things.

If it is dead then it's because more people sell their garbage nowadays :D

Links in the site don't work. Sorry. Can't rely on a place with horrible servers that barely work.

Well I haven't been on that group for a while but Craigslist is so full of spam that it's barely worth it. I think freecycle is FAR more moderated and trustworthy.

I know a guy who uses CL section of free things and does pretty well with picking up things.

Heard of this one before but never looked at it.

Haha that place is pretty popular in the UK. They helped me pay for my flights to China!

The community I lived in was very middle class and people gave away all sorts of ridiculous stuff like fully working amplifiers, GPS units, projectors, minidisc players...the list goes on!

I felt a little guilty about taking the stuff just to flog on...but hey, I was doing everyone a favour. They got rid of their stuff and someone who really wanted the item got it!

A friend of mine got this massive upright organ that took about 6 of us to pick up! Goodness know how much that was worth, but she actually wanted to play it...that was my first experience of freecycling.

Doesn't happen here though. Even second hand crap sells at 75% of it's retail value. There are no charity shops...just lots of places selling knock of tat!
