| | | BubbleTea | 04-19-2012 06:55 AM | Violation of Acceptable Use Policy After a recent review of your account activity, it has been determined that
you are in violation of PayPal's Acceptable Use Policy regarding your sales
ebay.co.uk, user ID: xxxxx.
The funny thing is that I have not been selling for almost 1 month as ebay restricted my eBay almost 1 month ago.
I suspect the reviewed my account after that restriction was imposed.
Anyway, all I had to do was sign an Affidavit saying that I will not received payments for any illegal or counterfeit goods, etc. on Paypal, and that limit was lifted and acc back to normal.
My qn is, is this Paypal now under scrutiny and more prone to getting limited? |
| GreenBean | 04-19-2012 07:47 AM | Define 'Affidavit'?
That's a serious matter. :spy: |

An affidavit is a voluntary statement made under oath to a witness legally authorised to take such statements which in the UK would be someone like a Notary Public.
Is that really what your saying you had to do? |
This is a stealth account or real info? |
| BubbleTea | 04-19-2012 03:18 PM | This is my REAL account with all real info.
I have not created any stealth acc yet as I am still learning.
Alright, this "affidavit" they were referring to, is just a fairly short single paragraph thing on the Paypal website (after I clicked 'resolve'), saying that I agree not to use Paypal to receive payments for any illegal activities, counterfeit goods, etc. yada yada.
And at the bottom, there is a small box and above it says, type "I Agree" in this box if you agree to the above.
And I typed "I Agree" in that box, and clicked "OK" or something like that, then I was brought to the main Paypal page and it said your limitation has been lifted and your account is back to normal.
Yah, strange thing.
At first I thought I would have to read through 10 pages of stuff and print them and sign with pen on paper, then fax or snail mail back to them.
But then, just one paragraph, type "I Agree", and a mouse click does it.
I don't know where this is coming from.
I have very few transactions on this account.
Most of my payments are directed into my other account.
But then this PP is linked to the now full restricted EB acc.
I received a MC099 (Vero email) from eB about a month ago.
Next day, restricted email.
One month later, this PP limit.
What next??
I had this eB and PP for a long time, easily around 10 years.
But only started buying and selling 1.5 years ago but not a lot.
Then started selling more for a short time in late Feb/early March, and late March, listing average 15 per day auctions.
And got this restriction in late March before I could sell more.
They're trying to kill me slowly instead of do a quick and complete kill?
:deadhorse: |
| GreenBean | 04-19-2012 07:30 PM | For heavens sakes, that is NOT an affidavit.
If you do not know the correct terms do not use them.
You managed to post grossly inaccurate information.
Such a post does more damage than good.
Ensure in future that nothing like that happens again.:nono: |
| unkown5454 | 04-20-2012 02:21 AM | This is totally normal for people selling risky items. And yes, you better walk away from this account for a while. If you are dumb enough to immediately do the same things over again, then you deserve to lose this account. |
| slapped | 04-20-2012 11:14 AM | The OP's Forum UserName should tell you ALL you Need to Know |

Some people say that cell phone cases are considered very high risk by eBay.
I find it ludicrous how they determine what's "high risk".
I mean, come on, iPhone cases high risk?!?
If the airport security had the same classification of "high risk" as eBay, I think we all have to travel empty handed cos practically nothing can pass through lol!!!
Anyway, yes, I think it is best to let this account cool for a while.
How long should I let it cool?
6 months ok?
Is this thing common?
I've never heard any mention of it before.
Some people said never withdraw ALL your money from Paypal.
I did this a few times in the last two months and also withdrew several times a week.
Maybe this got my account flagged and they're not happy I'm not keeping much money on it.
Well, I only learnt about all this now.
I will not do it again. |
| unkown5454 | 04-20-2012 05:15 PM | The problem comes from using the name "Ap.ple" or "iP.hone". Both are trademarked and almost impossible to sell consistently. |
| NoneOther | 04-21-2012 09:43 AM | Now there's a man (or possibly woman) who understands where e/b see 'high risk'. |

More than half a million listings for iPhone are still able to hang in there.
So... why? what? how? |
| slapped | 04-21-2012 01:34 PM | It is ALL Numbers Man,,,,Ebay and the VERO can only screen a certain amount of all those listings,,,Listings are getting Taken Down, Sold, Added,,EVERY Minute of EVERY Day,,,Some make it to being Sold,,,Some Don't,,,,What is the big Mystery?? |

So... why? what? how? | Yea, like slapped said. Don't try to fight it. You will be destroying accounts daily. Millions of people are "trying" to sell, but you aren't seeing the hundreds of listings being removed daily either...unless you go through clicking every one. Some won't even last an hour. |
| BubbleTea | 04-26-2012 07:27 AM | Here it goes again.
Because this was in the days when I did not know anything about eB and PP linking and such, I had another PP acc receiving payments too and now I see that I got the same crap on the other PP too.
I'm gonna copy-paste the stuff here.
So on the resolution centre, they say "Send Acceptable Use Policy affidavit".
When you click on "Resolve", it takes you to this page where it says:
"Affidavit of Compliance with, and Acceptance of, PayPal's Acceptable Use Policy
I have read and agree to the terms of use specified in the Acceptable Use Policy section of the User Agreement for PayPal Service.
I understand and agree that I am responsible for making sure that the transactions I enter into using PayPal are legal and do not violate the terms of PayPal’s Acceptable Use Policy.
I understand that my previous activities have been deemed by PayPal to violate the Acceptable Use Policy and I agree that if I do again violate the terms of PayPal’s Acceptable Use Policy, my account access may be limited or my account may be closed without advance notice, regardless of whether the violation takes place through eBay or another online marketplace, through my own website, or through any other forum.
I also pledge that my current usage of PayPal is legal under the terms of the User Agreement and that I will not use PayPal in the future to accept payment for goods or services that are illegal or are prohibited as described by the Acceptable Use Policy or the Restricted Activities Section of the PayPal User Agreement.
Type "I Agree" here: ____ [there's a box]
By typing 'I Agree' in the box above, I hereby agree to the terms of this affidavit."
After you type "I Agree" in the box, there is an "Agree" radio-button that you can click on and its done. |
| unkown5454 | 04-26-2012 10:37 AM | They're giving you a second chance. This is normal. Don't waste it. Next one is obvious permanent limitation. | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 03:31 PM. | |
