| | | dibley69 | 04-22-2012 10:45 AM | Which Proxy to use for UK ip address? Hi, been searching on here for the past few hours but couldnt find a specific answer to the above question
So my situation is this i'm currently in Holland and need a UK ip address i have a VPN but have read that currently this isn't a wise move? I am unable to change my ip address through the router method (in rental, multi users, etc)
I wont be selling VERO and i will be taking my time to build up the new account.
So, i'm after some advice as to my options or a link to a previous upto date thread where i can obtain this info.
Thanks in advance for all and any help |
| FizzyFish | 04-22-2012 11:18 AM | Don't use anything that is purporting to offer an i.p from another country is the general advice.
Why do you want a UK ip?
It is possible to operate a UK account from a foreign country! Trust me :) |

A safe option is VPS, there is a thread about setting one up here http://www.aspkin.com/forums/subscri...pn-server.html
Many people have no problem using their account from overseas |
VPS is good or dial-up if you can sustain that. |

It is possible to operate a UK account from a foreign country! Trust me :) | The reason i wanted a UK ip address is because my new stealth accounts have been set up in the UK
Is there any special procedures i will need to take to enable to operate from overseas?
I will be selling in the country i am in as well as the UK
Cheers |

question about dial up, how do you know you will get a non-shared unique ip?? | Same as using an internet dongle in that respect. They know that tonnes of people use these. |
| oompaloompa | 04-23-2012 01:54 PM | what companies do other country ip dial up? you mean the vpn companies? sorry not understanding the different terms |

My memories of Dial-Up were of the screeching noise, and my dad telling me to get off the internet because it was costing 1p a minute |
| NoneOther | 04-23-2012 02:32 PM | Harks back to the old days of phreaking when you could hack phones co lines to make unauthorised/untraceable calls etc.
Some were able to originate the calls from another country but all of this was very thechie.
Never know any ISP dial up service to enable calls from a different country though. |
| oompaloompa | 04-24-2012 04:03 AM | olden days computer did that...but yeah so does your mobile sim broadband....seen people quote dialup here to access foreign ip....maybe rsot will elaborate..... |
Well - it's one way to get foreign IP if you cant have VPS. VPN is too dangerous but dial-up is nice in its own right. |

In a VERY Basic kind of way you can say that Dial-up and VPN's are Sort of the Same Thing,,,,I Mean not really, but you can say that in order to get a a VERY Basic and General understanding of the two,,,
From wherever you are you dial or log into a Server that is Located in the Location that you wish to Appear to be from, then that Server gets you back onto the Internet with an IP Address from that location so when you log onto Ebay or wherever is Seems to them that you are from the area where your VPN or Dial Up Server logged onto the Internet.
Now for VPN, this Fails for MANY Reasons,,,one is that there is an Encryption Process that Masks your TRUE Location That takes Place between your Real location and the Location of the VPN Servers that you wish to log onto the internet from. This Encryption Process FAILS MANY, MANY times, when it does, your are Exposed. Another thing that happens is that at some point Ebay will recognize, Identify as VPN IP's and Ban ALL of those IP Addresses and the accounts associated with them, and MANY More Reasons,,,,,Dial-up however Does NOT suffer from any of these issues, Mainly because it is "Old School" and VERY Few People use it
I Hope that cleared it up a Little,,, |
Good point Slapped.
Basically when VPN fails/drops, your true IP is exposed. However when dial-up fails (unless you have a backup Net connection), you just get disconnected - no true IP revealed. When I do dial-up, I never keep a backup Net connection up so yeah, when it falls - it's annoying. |
| oompaloompa | 04-24-2012 10:12 AM | I put in search terms like dial-ip international ip, get no companies that show up... |
I would do specific google search - like dial-up "Name of country you want for the IP" - like dial-up UK or so. |

I've read posts here that also say its not good.
To get a foreign dial-up IP, wouldn't you be dialing into a foreign line, hence making expensive overseas calls?
What is the best way to get a foreign IP to use on an account?
Is it better to use operate the account from an overseas IP?
But I'm guessing that for setting up at least, you would need e.g. a US IP to open an US eBay account.

:juggle: | Can't recall anyone saying VPS is not safe, perhaps you are thinking of VPN
You could try taking a VPS free trial, then after the trial has expired, operate from overseas IP |
