21 Day eBay Hold..is there a way to beat it?

This is what I wondered to be honest..I've read you have to be on ebay for 6 months+ have 100+ feedback before they remove it..is that true?

levi6482 04-27-2012 08:11 AM

good question??

rsot 04-27-2012 08:58 AM

No particular trick available - I have not learned anything...while it would be wicked to know, I doubt anyone would post it up since these golden things tend to go down fairly quickly once abused...

moneyhustler88 04-27-2012 09:30 AM

Well oddly. I have only been on ebay a month or so..sold a faulty phone here (needed new keypad) and i think ive got the funds instantly. To be fair i think as long as your not a scammer it's just gaining feedback and trust of ebay..

rsot 04-27-2012 09:56 AM

More complicated than that Schrib - I am also sure it has some relation to the SOURCE of payment e.g. buyer's cc vs actual funds...

GTB 04-27-2012 10:00 AM

yeah there is too many things to say there is a certain way to lift them

also you can get the holds at anytime

ppl who have never had them on well established accounts get them

moneyhustler88 04-27-2012 01:36 PM

wow..very interesting! Do u actually get the funds after 21 days? i've heard you don't?

Usually takes 2 or 3 days after the item shows delivered.

Personally, I like the approach eBay is taking with the 21-day-holds for new sellers. Reason being: it limits the amount of fraud on eBay, thus making it a better experience for the buyers.

Lets face it, we need Happy Buyers. :)

moneyhustler88 04-27-2012 02:25 PM

True say^^^ But you have new buyers who manipulate it. Ie: they know a buyers new from the feedback then say it never came so they get a free item..or was damaged etc..its what happened to me originally. Guy got a free blackberry

rsot 04-27-2012 02:49 PM

There's always ways to defraud sellers - I like the solution of doing best to avoid using pp =) on my end anyhow.

Callidus 04-27-2012 03:05 PM

Just send everything with tracked delivery and when they leave feedback my funds automatically get released to me. You obviously are going to get the odd 1 or 2 that dont leave fb but the majority is ok for me :)

Gamefreak 04-27-2012 03:25 PM

If you really need your funds immediately you shouldnt be selling. If you do what you're suppose to do then you will have your funds in 5-7 days.
Ship same or next day via first class mail which takes 2-4 days after that it takes 203 days for paypal to release funds. If you get feedback from buyer then you gets funds eeven faster

bestest and easiest way is to not use paypal :boink:

Of course I know that does not (quite) work for the UK.

Paypal account should be in good enough standing to survive the holds.

With due diligence it can happen :ranger:

moneyhustler88 04-28-2012 12:23 PM

thanks greenbean

Ship quick and maintain great communication with buyer.

I seldom have anything held for 21 days ever.

GTB 04-28-2012 05:06 PM

i dont worry about the 21 day holds at all

i just worry about getting all aspects of orders right and providing a good service to customers

thats what y'all should be worrying about

NoneOther 04-28-2012 05:07 PM

Spot on GTB, that's they only way 'around' holds.

Good service = money sooner.

moneyhustler88 04-29-2012 07:58 AM

cool man for real thats a good valid point

slappedbythebigp 05-01-2012 11:46 AM

When I first set up on ebay 2 years ago for the first month I traded each transaction was held back by paypal for the 21 days or until good feedback was received from the buyer.
The money from some transactions was available within the week, while those that didn't post feedback or posted it after 21 days, the money was available at 21 days, irrespective of whether feedback had been received or not.

In my experience this witholding of funds is only temporary. All was normal with my account in month 2.

moneyhustler88 05-01-2012 01:10 PM

i see very helpful insight guys thanks

boondoggle 05-01-2012 02:26 PM

I used to stop the buyer from paying via ebay and get them to pay via a PayPal money request. The transaction being 'outside ebay' meant the payment wasnt held. Even that loophole has been closed now. (Only just found that out :( )

La!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Long time :cheer:

That stopped working because far too many users abused the system.

With paypal, it's better to vary the type of payments. :pop2:
