Default ebay is profiling your computer! (not new news)

Well, ebay is profiling your computer to some extent - since we all get the message of "you have logged in from a computer we don't recognize" - and asked to verify the account with a pin number. This also links your accounts to some extent from my experience... any thoughts on this?

It is most likely your computers Browser fingerprint that they are using to determine that you are on a different computer, Not at all News, Browser fingerprinting has been around and Talked about on this forum for quite some time now,,,

This is generally due to the lack of cookies on the new computer.

Perhaps he had new IP and new computer (no cookie) at the same time.
I had new computer but used the same IP, so I didn't get this message.
@OP: but I think this thing is normal, just as when you try to log in your bank account with your new computer, they always ask the same thing.

I would agree on the cookie principle. Bingo makes a good reference to the bank deal.
