| norma | 05-05-2012 04:30 PM | phone verify help! ok, stealth is up & running, but a roadblock. Got a forwarding phone number, and paypal wants an address to match, how?! What do I put in there?
I'm beginning to think of adding a second cellphone account & switch address to my PO box...any advice? |
The phone verification will work--if you have a service to call forward to the landline or mobile phone.
You need to ensure you can match your address with the right area code using the call forwarding service. |
| norma | 05-05-2012 08:26 PM | Hi, just ended up adding another phone line to mobile account, as I could confirm a cellphone billing address as "proof". Paypal match billing address info, so too risky with forwarding service. |
| norma | 05-11-2012 07:15 PM | phone verify issues Ok, paypal wants a landline to verify...if I use a virtual call forwarding number (same area code as stealth account) will it show as a landline for paypal?
My home phone (real phone number) has been linked & suspended, so forwarding number would not show real info? TIA |
| Sandy D | 05-11-2012 07:30 PM | Have them change your number or use one of the phones that has been discussed tons of time in the phone section of the forum. |
| norma | 05-11-2012 08:12 PM | I've read postings, etc. Still unable to get a clear grasp of this...paypal refuses to verify ANY cell/mobile phone, & forces use of landline. Will a virtual forwarding number appear as a landline to paypal, if forwarded to a real landline? |

| Correct understanding. Quote:

| Again, correct understanding.
The whole point of the forwarding number is/was to mask the true destination number.
Sandy D's advice is prudent & pragmatic. |
| norma | 05-12-2012 02:50 PM | Update: virtual forwarding number did not work. spoke with paypal rep, & stated they want real, old-fashioned landlines to verify. I guess I'll get one Monday..... |

I dont have a landline and have enough accounts to pass 10 out to everyone here.
No need for a landline. The rep is forcing you to get one when it is not needed if you are building you account correctly.
Did you take the tme to read in the phone verification section? |
| UnderBites08 | 05-12-2012 06:06 PM | Go get a Pay Lo Virgin mobile phone. Its money every time. |
| norma | 05-12-2012 06:48 PM | don't know how old/aged your accounts are, but, paypal really, really is pushing a landline. Had a pay as you go phone: rejected. virtual forwarding number: rejected.
Just planning in installing a second landline with billing to stealth address on Monday, no biggie. |

Did you take the tme to read in the phone verification section? | Yes, read the phone section. Everything worked until actually started to use paypal. I verified the cellphone, verified bank account & cc, and still won't let me use to make a payment! It is all coming down to a landline. |

| I was under the impression that you had used a virtual forwarding number on the PP A/C which forwarded any calls to your cell mobile.
Only you would have known this call was being forwarded to a cellphone, PP would have been none the wiser to this virtual forwarding number as it would have been a local landline number format, no ...??
:noidea: |
| Sandy D | 05-12-2012 09:45 PM | I am never had to use a landline.
Something is odd here.
Maybe we are not getting the entire information or something.
I verified 3 accounts in the last couple of days with a pre paid phone and had no issues at all. |
Sandy D you raise good points.
My central question is though, if you use a call forwarding service that matches your area code (i.e landline number), then surely only you know that arrangement (unless it is blacklisted/known by PP/EB), the end user has no idea of this call forwarding to where ever.....
so it begs the question whether the OP has actually either told PP/EB that they are using a mobile number for registration purposes or infact they have used a mobile number to register the accounts with & PP are now coming back to request the landline number....???

| norma | 05-12-2012 09:52 PM | I'm telling you everything, I've been on the phone with paypal 3 or 4 times trying to verify both prepaid & cellphone. They want an address linked to number. Then I got a virtual forwarding number, which didn't pass either.
As this is mainly buyer's account, I'm thinking of only using "guest" to check out, a whole lot less hassle.
BTW, everytime I went to pay, (logging in to paypal) these numbers would pop up to call, & I would confirm that I was ready for the phone call, & the next screen would state these numbers could not be confirmed. |
Sorry, I did not mean to step on your toes here, I am just try to out think this issue.:tears:
Maybe Sandy D could PM you directly on this :noidea:
I sense you are making an error some where that is hard to discern right now. |

I have picked up an overall impression that there are issues across the board on US accounts recently....though I admit in your case it is still too premature to judge whether your issue is local/specific to end user rendered issue or a US wide spread PP/EB onslaught of some sort.
I sense you may have inadvertently stumbled somewhere, out of the two possibilities.
Sandy D is a US user & has more of an insight into this, so I will drop back from this & let her or any other end user add insight here.

| Sandy D | 05-12-2012 11:14 PM | I used Virgin mobile in the last couple days with no issues at all.
I never call them unless I have to. It backs you into a corner and they control the issue from the minute you get on the phone.
I dont know the details but someone you are doing is forcing this issue as most people have no issues with pre paids like Virgin mobile. |

Each time I go to make a payment, both prepaid and cellphone numbers show as "we will call you to verifiy ID" & when I click "call" the next screen shows "numbers cannot be verified" & unable to complete transaction. When I speak with paypal, same tune of "landline" is stated. |
| GreenBean | 05-13-2012 06:52 AM | Have you used a different computer to access paypal?
BTW, try to avoid the guest trick. It's troublesome too :violin: | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 02:21 AM. | |
