Default eBay Asking Specific Category Sellers to Adjust Titles

I recently got an email from a Senior Manager directed towards all sellers of a specific genre of products in a specific category. The email stated that the eBay Trust and Safety Department has identified this category as one that has a few issues that require timely resolution.

They want us to be more specific of the item in the title, have a maximum of 5 listings per specific item (duplicate policy), and of course change pictures to have no borders and watermarks.

They said that the titles and duplicate policy are in effect now so should be changed immediately. The deal with the pictures isn't in effect until September 1st.

I do not really want to change my titles immediately bc I have worked up a good placement in Best Match and am getting good sales for it...if I ended my listings and reworked the title so they like it, it would have a big impact on my sales until I worked my way back up the Best Match placement.

Anyone have any ideas, suggestions, or comments about this type of matter?

Also, I have been keeping a close eye on the big time sellers in this category and they are still listing new items with the same old unspecific title that eBay asked us to change.

Do you think I can wait it out until I see other sellers start to comply bc how likely is it that eBay will limit or pull ALL of the thousands of listings bc they don't comply?

Study them - learn from them -- worry more about YOUR sales than theirs - yes they might be successful but don't think for a minute that they aren't on top of all of eB shiz.

I'm not really worried about them bc my model is better than theirs and a few more months should put me over the top of them.

My dilemma is when to change all the titles of my eBay listings bc it will surely plummet my sales due to losing high ranking in Best Match. At the same time, I don't want my listings pulled and getting a suspension or penalty.

No one else is following the guidelines stated in the email even though eBay said we should do this immediately. Not even the big time sellers with their NEW listings that they listed yesterday.

Like rsot stated.... Worry about your own listings... Think this way... When they get pulled you will be ahead of the game. This is always the way I work with ebay changes.

I hate it when eBay starts meddling. It always means slower sales.

However, if you have 5 listings, why not test 2 new ones? Maybe you can find one that works well BEFORE they come back at you and force you to switch?

I'm just throwing this out there, I don't know if/how eBay will react to it.
