Paypal limited...Strong links?
 

Hey everyone!

I had a Paypal account limited recently - I am still fighting the cause.However, when I called up they asked if I had any other accounts or if anyone used my computer? Had an account with the same address? As they said there was a strong link to an account with issues selling similar items. Any ideas on what they have linked? and how?

Depends what you are doing, how you've set the accounts up ??? It would help if you outlined a bit more detail.

Hey everyone =)

Paypal limited account recently and have reviewed and reversed payments back to buyers. Only problem is these items have been shipped? Anyone know what I can do about this, how to claim back etc? Also, postage was done through paypal...

This was a family member's account, solid account over 8 years old. Account used and operated there. Sold too much too quickly - I didn't think with this being quite an established account...

Want to know what they could have linked though, it's worrying me for the future.

You cannot claim back what you've shipped out already & it has been refunded to your buyers by PP out of your PP A/C.

Unless you paid by credit card in which case a charge back possibility springs to mind.

It has been stressed across the board that you never ought to use family or friends details on your accounts. EVER. They are now done for. Or their accounts for that matter.

It being a longstanding account bears no relation to EB/PP taking it down for any reason they deem necessary.

They could have linked you from anything from the ip address detection right down to the address & name details used as well as browser tracking cookies etc etc. The possibilities are very wide with you if your reply is anything to go by.

Did you access the family account on the same pc as you did for the banned account ??? How did you set about avoiding cookie/browser linking ???

Yes I know that is the case, and the family member concerned was happy for me to do this - they understood.

I used their pc, their ip which obviously already had their cookies etc. So no way could have been linked to my banned account?

They can connect you via your item descriptions, images used, the way it is layed & worded out.

Have you used the same images as were from your previous EB A/C ??? Infact have you used ANYTHING that is the same or that is from your banned EB A/C ???

I hedge my bet that they have suspicions due to this.

ps: I assume that this family members EB/PP A/C is LIMITED at the moment ??

You have two threads open at the moment....I assume that thread is on about the same situation ??? It would have been better on one thread.

When i have had a paypal account limited they dont just refund the buyers,
Paypal put all recent buyers payments in the resolution centre which ask you if you have mailed the parcel and if so, with or without a tracking number.
That way you are hopefully covered for items that have been mailed out already.

I am sure you would have had this in paypal? :suspicious:
If you did not respond to the cases then the buyer will get refunded.

So if your paypal account gets limited they automatically reverse payments to the buyer?

That doesn't seem right. Is there more to the story?

Yes the eb/pp ac is limited at the moment, it is getting appealed again but we shall see...

No images/description used are the same everything new and different. I can't place it at all...

Yes my other question is linked with this account, but I thought as they were both different questions it would be best kept seperate. Maybe not, thanks for your advice it is really appreciated!

Why was your own real ID EB/PP A/C limited ???:noidea: What is the background to that ???
Why have EB/PP not sought further verification details for this EB/PP A/C but instead actually refund the buyers their payments ??? Did the buyers actually raise issues with their purchases from you ??? Bad feedback left maybe ??? Please respond to the related issue Bunneh raises in respect of this.

Did you make any changes to the email address on this family members EB/PP A/C ???
Did you make any changes to the address details on this EB/PP A/C ???
Did you make any changes to the bank details on this EB/PP A/C ???
Is your family members surname the same/similar to your own & your address postcode the same/similar ???

You took control of your family members working EB/PP A/C & used their bank account, their EB/PP email account & all their related personal details attached to this EB/PP A/C, using their pc at their home ??? Really ??? :suspicious::suspicious::suspicious:

Would it not have been impractical to be at your family members house at their pc to run their EB/PP A/C as your own ??? Surely they would have been inconvenienced by this arrangement given you are the only beneficiary from it ????

If you ended up using their established working EB/PP A/C for your own purposes, does that not mean they were then deprived the use of this EB/PP A/C considering it has been used up until now & from their pc since you were using it for your EB/PP activities ??? :suspicious:

Did you EVER email or access EB/PP directly from within your email accounts connected to either EB/PP A/C for both sets of EB/PP A/C ???

Did you remove the exif data from the images used in your EB listings ???

What was the limitation code & message that EB/PP sent you ???

----> Why would you think that considering it is an established 8 year old EB/PP A/C ??? Did you exceed any of the EB seller allowance limits ???

Lot of questions I know but knowing this might aid the resolution of this.
Plenty of ideas where things might have gone belly up but the the fun times will come once you clarify these questions.

My own eBay/Paypal was suspended due to dispatch time low dsr. Since then i have made alot of crucial mistakes before finding this forum.

PP investigated payments claiming that buyers had not initiated them? I don't know if this has happened because I had a suspicious payment on my account that I did not know where it came from. Anyways, some buyers were legitate and went in and cancelled these as they had received their items. I paid postage through Paypal. No a small number have raised issues - due to the eBay message sent after paypal limitation but these are being dealt with. No bad feedback at all, 100% positive 5 stars dsrs!!!

No changes to email or address. Surname completely different. Bank details - I did have the bank account on file get closed due to out of date DD mandate. But my family member sorted this after a call to them. It was shortly after this I received the limitation? address/postcode different only similarity is the first 3 letters of postcode - i know for a fact, however, there are at least another 3 ebay members in this postcode doing what i do?


Yes I did, I am very close with this family member so it was no hassle for them at all!

I don't know what you mean by 'lots of crucial mistakes' in terms whether this has had any bearings on your family members account.

By 'sorted' you mean get the old bank account reinstated ??? This out of date DD might have led to a manual review of your family EB/PP A/C. The addition of at least three other EB sellers selling same/similar items/same postcode/same or similar item descriptions/layouts would potentially raise suspicions on a manual review arising from that failed DD mandate. I cannot exclude this possibility.

why ??? What did you do with those images once you saved them there ??? I presume this was to re use these images on the family EB A/C ???

You said you feared/suspected that you were selling too much hence the reason for a link(???)/suspicions on this EB/PP A/C....my question was if this was an established 8 year old no limit account as you've described, it is a bit strange that your suspicions would focus on this aspect as the possible cause of issue. Either way, EB/PP will & do discontinue/ban/suspend/limit established accounts regardless of the accounts long standing history.

You've just told me that you factually know of three other EB A/C in the same post code area with similar items/similar listings. Your family member or any other member that has access to that computer could have also used it in your absence.

You cannot be truly surprised at EB/PP questions, even if they are speculative open ended questions at this point in time if you yourself have this much awareness of three EB/PP A/C in the same postcode selling similar items, possibly with similar item listings to your own etc etc eh ???

Are those three EB/PP A/C yours or anyone connected to you ??? Honestly, nothing what so ever to do with you in any shape or form ???

It would appear you've had ideas as to what was possibly linking you, see further replies above.

These questions you asked at the outset of your post, do you realize that you've actually answered some of your own questions by your replies above to my questions ??? It would appear you've had an inkling of the potential linkers to this EB/PP A/C.
