Account got limited - is it due to item's location?

Hi all,
My inventory are in China. I also have a shipper in China, but I operate my store in US.

It is unlikely possible to transfer my goods to US and ship from here. If the shipping cost is too high, I will not be able to make money.

My account got limited, and I want to open a new account to sell again.

Do you think I should NOT list the item location as China? Should I just list the items as in US, and notify my customers for the correct item locations before shipping out?
If I list the item location as China, but I operate in US, will ebay have a problem with my account? Will I possibly get suspended that way?
Should I just list the location as US?

Thanks for your advice!!!

No bad thing. Location must be accurate.

You seem like you are doing a type of drop-shipping. Your plan is not good. Customers need to know where the items really are & how long delivery will take.

You need to re-do your plan. This one is very silly :juggle:

The biggest problem here is DSRs. Assuming of course that your supply and shipping are indeed secure. Be logical here - when a person buys from you in the USA and if they see the item as located in the USA they are not going to be happy waiting until the item crosses the ocean - would you be? I know I wouldn't.

In so many categories on Ebay you see items for sale dirt cheap from China and in amongst them you see sellers offering same day despatch and located in the country they are operating (in my case the UK) and they are charging 3 times as much - they are the ones doing business and getting 100% feedback

The people in China are the ones getting the negatives.

I know of two people who buy from Chinese sellers on Ebay and then when the item arrives 3 or 4 weeks later they sell it on - effectively, after allowing for costs, doubling their outlay each time.

If that doesn't tell you the realities then nothing will.

Suggest you find a fulfillment service in the USA - at least then you are giving yourself half a chance

Item location is one of the main key factor, I suggest that you keep it as accurate as you can.

If your item is in China, you must keep the item location as China and have the right delivery time adjusted. You dont want to keep your customers in the dark.

yes you can be in USA, and keep location as china but add a few weeks to the delivery period to cover yourself.
Also the buyer will see an estimated delivery time on his order, and you are less likely to have rubbish dsr for delivery.

Welcome to the forums - all the best. I see a lot of NOs by GB...usually she is wise on this.

I buy on eBay as well as sell. Sometimes, if I do not need an item right away, I WILL order from China since the price is usually lower. However, if I need the item quickly, I always check the box to only show US sellers. If I were to order from someone who stated the item location was in the US and then found out it was really in China, I would be EXTREMELY UPSET. Maybe even upset enough to leave bad feedback.

Also, you didn't mention WHAT you were selling, but if it was DVD's, Computer Software, Brand Name Fashion Items or ANYTHING with a trademark or that is copyrighted - that is the most likely reason you lost the account. All of that stuff is counterfeit.

GrannyT, in her post above, has a good idea. If your items are legitimate, try specializing in 1 or 2 to start. Order some and then list at a price ABOVE what the Chinese sellers are asking. You might be surprised to find that you do NOT always have to compete on price to get orders. Sure, you have to be competitive with the other sellers located in the US, but you don't always have to be the lowest priced seller to succeed.

Exactly.
