| | | audiosoft | 05-29-2012 06:49 PM | 20k Traffic to an eBay listing Greetings,
I just bought 10k US and 10k UK traffic to one of my eBay listings, I have set the quantity to 50. This is another experiment, let's see how it goes and I'll keep everyone posted on how many sales it generates if any.
The traffic costed me $11.99 + $11.99 = $24, even if I get one sale, i will cover my advertisement costs. |
| pr0wake | 05-29-2012 09:36 PM | hmm, interesting |
20,000? are you selling the Olympic Torch? |
| Gamefreak | 05-30-2012 04:20 AM | Whats the point in all that traffic? The user who you paid surely isnt going to be buying the item, unless you get better ranking from those views? |

The views have still not started to roll in but when they do, I'll let you know the results! |
| meVebay | 05-30-2012 04:48 AM | Trouble is, more views and less sales will get your listing lower down in the best match search, so it could have an opposite effect.
But good on you for doing something, I have my ways of manipulating the best match, but I've never considered paid for advertising (Although wouldn't hesitiate if it worked)
Let us know how it goes! |
| Bunneh | 05-30-2012 05:00 AM | Where did you purchase this traffic from? |
| GREEN LION | 05-30-2012 05:46 AM | Did you buy the traffic from ebay?
i did try this kind of traffic for a website ,but didn't sell even 1 item.
Hope it works for you |
| audiosoft | 05-30-2012 08:15 AM | I am buying traffic from someone who I have on my contact list, I think the traffic will come from people going on expired domains instead will be redirected to my listings, not sure if it will work. |
| audiosoft | 05-30-2012 04:04 PM | Alright so here are the results:
17000 Page views in less than 24-hours with 0 conversions. I am done buying traffic from now on.:smash: What a waste! Now i have to take down the listing and start again.
Now, I'll hunt for other marketing methods. |
| Gamefreak | 05-30-2012 04:47 PM | Just as I said audio.. I thought it would be a complete waste but more importantly. Did your listing get ranked higher or did it fall? |
| audiosoft | 05-30-2012 05:27 PM | I assume it fell to page 200 from page 1 lol, that's the reason why I restarted and I had already put $7 into the listings with BOLD and all other upgrades. I am trying one more marketing method now, will see how it goes. I have good hopes with it. |
| newjerseymax | 05-30-2012 11:35 PM | Not complete waste... You are learning! |
also too many views could get you some jealous competitors reporting or causing you headaches... |

To the OP thanks for the post. It was interesting. Sorry that it sounds like the results were actually negative though! |

To the OP thanks for the post. It was interesting. Sorry that it sounds like the results were actually negative though! | Results were negative yes! But now I hired a professional marketer at a flat rate of $300 to show me some results. Not sure what happens now, but i'll keep the boards updated as to what happens. I am really keen on finding out the correct ways to market eBay listings externally. I think facebook PPC can do well too, anyone tried that? |

Don't get me wrong its an interesting experiment, but I would much rather see you spend your money on advertising your own site and bringing customers to you and cutting off the middle man. |

I will print business cards and try to drive my eBay customers to my website.
eBay store marketing is my last experiement, I am not going to experiment anymore after this one and see how it goes. The marketer looks quite promising.
As far as cutting the middleman cost is concerned, eBay charges about 9% + 4% by Paypal, basically they both are the same company. We are pulled out of 13% straight-away! that's a lot of fee. But if you have a low cost price, this fee can be justified for the traffic they bring.
I am not sure about Amazon fees, can anyone enlighten me on Amazon fee? I am itching to sell on Amazon. |

Yeah thats a good idea, and as for the fees it roughly ends up being about the same.

If Amazon fee is 15% - 20% which is much higher than that of eBays! Why does everyone cry *eBay fee*, *ebay fee* and *eBay fee*? |
| Gamefreak | 05-31-2012 08:26 PM | It all depends on category. Personally for me wbay fees are about 25% total with everything. While amazon is 16% total note that I include shipping in the fee. | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 07:50 PM. | |
