So what happens here?

I'm on Ebay on our home account in the kitchen looking at nightdresses on my laptop.

Unbeknown to me he's in the office on the same Ebay account looking at tractors.

Same Ebay account, same IP, different machines

Any danger? Too late now because it has happened

:ranger:

different machines? so you were both logged in then? on admin or on their own user, seems unlikely you have dedicated user on both machines?

only thing is the cookies/flash if you view your emails on admin, you know your set up best and if you were on admin for browsing, then what else is on there. admin browser. I mean I guess you keep your admin clean too...

does hubby not know that touching ebay without permission, is forbidden due to stealth?

Dedicated user on both machines as I use both machines - just never at the same time before.

Hubby has had wrists suitably slapped but I don't think any damage has been done as both user accounts have their own cookies and the IP was the same on both machines.

Shows the importance of user accounts I guess. I only go off the home account when I'm in the office and the laptop is disconnected so it has never been an issue before. I keep thunderbird open on the laptop in the kitchen or the grading room so I can monitor what's going on

From what you describe.....you should be 'OK' from EB/PP point of view....the only thing is that the browser/cookies will be on both machines for that particular computer user account used to access the EB/PP A/C from.

Oomps, I am not sure if it matters if the end user machine - laptop/tablet/desktop- is an administrator account or a specified user account on that computer (these restrictions are specific to what actions are possible on the machine itself, not what sites they access if, as in this case eb/pp A/C were accessible).

This scenario would be no different to having one person having 5 laptops all open on the same EB/PP A/C.

It may not sound practical but this is possible without any risks to the EB/PP A/C, so long as these EB/PP A/C are NOT mixed to any other EB/PP A/C on each of the respective accessing end user machine.

ps:
does hubby not know that touching ebay without permission, is bad for his health LOL!

no what I meant was that admin is where alot of people read all their emails for all accounts.....however if they do, they must keep cookies flash cleared up between emails....plenty of add-ons to do that...

GT you use thunderbird preview pane, so you can view all emails without clicking them, I presume?

GrannyT 06-05-2012 02:45 PM

You got it hon

I use Thunderbird for all emails and then go into the relevant user account to deal with them - seems to work OK

He deserves more than a slap gt. maybe a spanking?:mod:

Doesn't seem like it would raise a suspicious flag.
It would be simple to get the account "fixed" if something were to happen though; just explain to them.

Ever thought that was his intention from the start ;)

Should be fine because you could be on your WiFi network on your computer and also on your eBay from your phone on a different ip through your phone data. As long as the cookies match and the accounts aren't link to any other accounts you should be all good, you did nothing wrong in eBay's eyes.
