Default I am new - Freshly ejected from Ebay needs some help

Hello!

I have recently been suspended from Ebay and I have just purchased eBay Stealth. I have the following questions:

1) I tried changing my WAN Mac address (the last 2 digits) but was unable to do so.
2) The other option is to buy a router. I have checked with TalkTalk and it is going to cost £30

Can somebody suggest an alternative? If someone is using Talktak broadband can they guide me through the process of changing the WAN Mac address?

Thanks for your help

You can't change the mac address of a modem, only from routers, so I suggest that you get a router.

Are you sure about this. Page 7 of Ebay Sealth says that it can be changed in the router's set up page? Also can anyone recommend where can I buy a cheap router online for around GBP10 (apart from Ebay of course)

Thanks for your reply

You're basically telling myfriday09 that they are correct but incorrect.

I'd spend a little bit more for a router.

You don't need to tamper around with a MAC address in regards to use with EB/PP A/C.

A USB internet dongle would suffice as a mean of a different ip address, or switching the router on/off to acquire a different ip for each respective eb/pp a/c set would suffice for your purposes.

Keep a log of these ip addresses though.

I am only planning to use one Ebay account. Just switching the router ON and OFF will do the trick? Do I need to only do it once or each time I log into my new ebay account?

Thanks for your reply

Welcome to the forum

It does BUT............ you are meant to be making a new stealth you.

Consider spending a few pence on a dongle.

That way you have a brand new IP, one less thing to link you to anything old & suspended. Much easier down the line

Check IPBurger.com and make a note of your ip address.
then turn your modem off for 30 seconds than back on.
if your ip changed then you're good since you're not multi accounting just make sure you never sign into your old account again and you did all prior measures like create new windows users

if it didn't work you might have to go into your command prompt to re new your ip and flush your dns by going to RUN > type in CMD than these commands
Do "ipconfig" to see your IP
Do "ipconfig /release"
then "ipconfig /renew"
Do "ipconfig /flushdns"

Hello!

I have tried that and it worked. Although a dongle has been suggested many times, they are not cheap in the UK and many suppliers tie you up into a contract.

Cost is but part of the issue.

What are you doing for a new address and name?

rosalind, this is not correct.

You can get PAYG daily, weekly & monthly contracts on USB dongles. Look on eBay itself for some seriously good deals.

I have an 02 USB internet dongle on a rolling monthly PAYG contract (it is upto me to renew it for the next month or not;depending if I need it or not) for £10.20 per month 2 GB which is more than enough for my EB/PP activities.

A 24 hr broadband + unlimited wifi 200 MB package is £2.04 per day on the 02 network. There might be even more cheaper deals if you looked around.

I come & go as I please.

I have done this and now I have a completely different IP. I am going to take a BIG risk and NOT go for the dongle.
