Worried About Dial Up Numbers Not Chnging Much

Hi Folks,

I just got a dial up connection and there isn't much change in the dial up ip's,

only the last digits of the set of 4 change...ie.

55.23.128.159 disconnect/reconnect, then I get:
55.23.128.166 disconnect again/reconnect and get:
55.23.128.169 and so on.

The last set of numbers are all close.

Is this something I should be concerned about???

I thought the last "2" sets of numbers were always changing.

Any experts have this situation that can enlighten me?

Certainly not an expert BUT. This is what happens with my dial-up and there is a range of numbers like you mention. To date I have had no problems. I am in OZ which I do not
think is so relevant...
No doubt the experts will let us know as well!

Thanks for the fast responce Greenbean. It's kind of reassuring that I'm not alone on this...I just always thought the last 2 sets of numbers will always change. And the last set is a little too close for my liking. Let's wait for more input. Thanks.

You're fine, it's normal and okay for just the last 'set' of numbers to change. Just make sure they do change and you don't reuse the same ip for multiple accounts.

Also try another local number to get a new IP range, and if that doesn't work try local city numbers.

If that doesn't work try another dialup provider, there are tons of them.

The first two numbers never change with the same provider.

Some Dial Up numbers have the last two sets changing

Eg 123.123.xxx.xxx

Some have only the last set chaging i.e 123.123.123.xxx

Obviously with two sets changing, you have 65000 possibilities, with one set only 256.

Just use Excel and IPchicken till you figure out what you are comfortable with.

I get totally different ip address just by changing the city. Say from burbank, to los angeles(and in los angeles ther are several). with 1 provider on dial up I get like 10 different totally different set of numbers
