This will definitely get you linked, it's definitely not recommended as a place to get new ip's

Public WiFis tend to be burnt by the masses. Would avoid.

I used them when I did not have a cable provider that allowed me to change IPs.

Never had trouble with any of them, did not go overboard either but I also know they can be easily looked down on and not worth risking all the work.

I did it then but do not need to and wont again.

I never go near public wifi's for anything to do with Ebay/PP. Since I got the T-Mobile Rocket 4G I use that for my ebay/pp needs.

I used to make them at my public library.

Found out the hard way it was not safe at all.

Generalizing to a degree but the webmaster did not clear/clean/restore the system daily....

after x2 MC09 never used them again. :ranger:

I really think this is more a Matter of Where the Wi-Fi is Located and Who has used it in the Past,,,A Library in Iowa Might be Safer than a Starbucks in New York,, or a Public Courthouse wi-fi in Miami

moneyhustler88 06-26-2012 07:03 PM

seriously why would u ever risk using wifi..it's open..unsecure and like people said probably already used/saturated..it's like asking for a limitation

rsot 06-27-2012 08:08 AM

@moneyhustler88 - it's because folx either tend to be cheap and look for something easy (a lot of us know where that leads to...) or just dont quite understand the dynamic IP principle...or maybe dont have access to something solid.

I agree with this statement, it really depends on where you are.
Small towns and places in the middle of nowhere, are generally safe.
You just have to pick and choose; be wise where you are setting these up.

Of course, it's not really recommended to open accounts on Public Wifi,
but if you have no choice, pick the less trafficked areas.

Sandy D 06-27-2012 03:02 PM

Very risky but I have done it in the past.

Just to let others know I seem to always get a call from eb once I listed an item from a public location.

If you are using a public wi fi have your info and phones handy.
