| | Providing eBay with ID verification....??? I've been asked to provide eBay with a government issued ID, bank statement or utility bill, and a supplier invoice. I'm able to do all of this.
However, I don't have a working fax machine.
Is my only other option to mail it to them?
And would this stuff have to be photocopied/scanned? Or would I have to take a picture of it with a camera & print it out and send to them?
They told me in the e-mail, "In order to avoid delays: Do NOT Photoshop your eBay user ID in the photos, be sure to display it in the actual photo" - Which gave me the idea that they want me to take a picture of it, and also have a piece of paper beside it that shows my user ID and e-mail address. Is that correct? I'm not 100% sure.
Can someone clear things up for me? Thanks. Sorry if it's a dumb question.. |
Would eBay accept my health card? (For ID verification) I have to verify my account and they asked for a "Government issued ID (passport, drivers license, etc.)"
I currently cannot find my drivers license or passport and all I have is my health card. My health card doesn't have my address on it, though. (Just a photo of me, with my name, DOB, and a few other things)
Would eBay accept it? I'd also be providing them with a bank statement document which does show my address to match the address on my account.
Also, I'm worried my DOB on my health card, won't match what it shows on my eBay account. I made the account 2 years ago and I don't remember putting my actual/proper year that I was born..(And It doesn't let you check to see what it is)
*Note: This isn't a stealth account. |
| GrannyT | 07-04-2012 02:39 PM | Ring them and ask |
| BiN4RY | 07-04-2012 02:41 PM | No they won't. Paypal doesn't have the authority to verify these kind of things, especially if you're outside of the states. They only look at your driver license for name and address, and most likely also record the ID number too but that's only for their own safekeeping. |
It can pass with the bank statement - all depends on what the agent decides to do...some may let it pass, some may be strict about it. |

But would that make any difference? Also, I only have a G1 License..... |
Ok - for eb, G1 would be fine. Health Card and bank statement should work too. |

So now I've got rsot saying that health card + bank statement should work (easiest to do for me) while you (BiN4RY) are saying that health card won't work - only my G1 will? Which I can't find :( |
Health card can work for eB and for pp...it's not the best but with bank statement - could pass. That's all I can say on this topic.
BiN4RY is very wise on this subject so if I had a choice on who to listen to... I would aim for BiN4RY. |

Also, I don't have a working fax machine..So do I send them actual photographs of my documents? (with my user ID and email address like they mentioned) or do they want it to be photocopied/scanned? |
And sorry, one more thing..
I can't remember what DOB/Date of Birth I used when I signed up with eBay. And I don't think it's going to match with the ID I give them. Could that be a problem? I'd hope that they value the matching name & addresses more than the DOB since so many people enter a different DOB when signing up for something. Also, eBay doesn't show the DOB in the settings... :pout: |
| cikmatt | 07-04-2012 09:27 PM | I need to sent all this document also and i am thinking to scan all ID, utility bill and email to them. All this document is real and think not a problem. |

They actually had this in the email? |

I think what they meant was something like: "don't add your e-mail & username through text in a computer program. But instead, have it showing in the photo on a physical piece of paper next to your documents/ID."
Which brings me to ask...So I have to take a photo of my ID & documents with my camera? And have something like a piece of paper in the photo, with my email & user ID on it? Is that what they mean? Or do they want me to photocopy my stuff?
Sorry, I'd call eBay & ask but I can't because of the phone # I'm at right now. |
| cikmatt | 07-06-2012 01:41 AM | i asked them via live chat and we can scan or take picture from those document. But make sure all coloured and all details are clearly can see |
| oompaloompa | 07-06-2012 11:18 AM | use faxzero, it is internet based fax or just upload a pic or scan of it directly.
no you do not need your username in pic necessarily, but if faxing, it might be useful to have your user id on each page in case they get mixed up and they say they did not receive, so that could mean scanning or taking pic of ID, printing it then writing your user id on it before faxing ... |
| arpichelago | 07-22-2012 02:30 PM | What happens if you can't provide tax information though?
On the birthdate.
That is bad news.
I called Ebay to look into some dispute... and they would NOT let me do it without the birthdate I signed up with. They didn't limit my account or anything but you're definitely going to need that birthdate....
As for your real birthdate not matching up, maybe you can put some fine photoshop skills to use, I would not feel safe uploading a real ID that had the wrong DOB. | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 07:29 AM. | |
