PP acount for private sale, then use for eB stealth later..

Just looking for some advice, run this past experienced people here...

I will be opening a new Stealth PP account soon enough for use with eB anyway.

Right now though I have someone wanting to buy something in a private sale and they would like to pay with PP. They're a trusted buyer but they just don't want to pay the SWIFT transfer fee.

Do people think it will cause future problems for use with eB if I open up the Stealth PP and accept a privately invoiced payment immediately? Will be for a couple hundred pounds.

Alternative for this private sale is to have it sent to my gf's PP account but don't want her account flagged for unusual activity..

Any quick advice will be greatly appreciated!

a brand new account receiving £200 straight away after opening could raise a flag somewhere IMHO

id be careful especially if you were wanting to use for selling later

if your GF's pp is legit then there should be no problem with her recieving it

why dont you gt the buyer to send you a cheque or PO

or do a direct bank transfer (unless its a trust issue and he needs a recovery plan for his cash)

200 isnt so bad if 1) account is verified and 2) you dont remove money right away.

And want to kiss the girlfriend good bye.

Leave the bird away from your business :rip:

Thanks for the reply.

her's is legit but I've got her to take a couple of smaller payments in the last month so was starting to get the jitters that a third would have her's flagged and perhaps cause probs when she might next try to sell something herself..

The guy is in Belgium hence the fee for the transfer and limited options.. It could be a slight trust issue in that it's an enthusiast forum sale and although he can see I'm a regular contributer and sold things before to people, he doesn't actually know me from Pierre.

Annoying in a sense as given a few weeks a stealth PP would be up and running and verified and also include some eB sales.

Having said all this, I have in the past opened and used a PP account with real but mixed up details (re-arranged address, abreviated name etc) and taken payments without anything happening to the account for some months and only then when I mucked up cross-referencing this with my then stealth account did it go down. Just a waste of a good bank account to make a quick PP for a one off payment.

Probably wouldn't be an immediate dismissal as we've been together a long time but could sow seeds in her mind (or add to the many seeds!)..

:behindsofa:

Seeds have been the downfall of many. Go carefully ;)

It is and the funds wouldn't be... most likely left in there until spent on eBay.

JomJarr 07-08-2012 08:58 AM

Again, thanks for the replies.

As an aside, do private sales using PP come under less scrutiny or do people still come accross problems, PP poking their noses in, reviewing all transactions like no bank ever would?

I wouldn't have thought they would need to provide any buyer protection for them and so why would they need to check up on it? Only answer to me would be because they actively seek to freeze funds and accounts which in my opinion is a distinct possibility.

Wish all these banking scandals would catch up with PP somehow.

All transactions can come under the evil eye of paypal.

It's a case by case situation

Had the misfortune of a donation to a registered UK Charity held by the bar stewards. :fight:
