Default new bank account question

yes ive read stealth but...

it does not seem to point you in the right direction or have been updated about times since the recession hahahaha

this afternoon i clicked onto an online bank and set about applying for a bank account

ok... everything went well until igot to the status of employment stage

im unemployed... no bank that i know of will give me an account... well i do know of 1 but i already have an account with them and the details are spoilt and so i cant apply for another account with my current bank as i already have tried and due to my current employment status they turned me down!

so im thinking i can say im employed... but by who as it asks for employer details and name address and phone number for contact... i know not to try saying im unemployed my misses used to be a bank manageress so i have it good authority i will get turned down 99% of the time
so back to stealth banking pretending im employed... it goes on to ask me how much i earn how im paid weekly monthly cash bank or other

everyones circumstances are different

thanks to being blocked by ebay im slowly running out of money and im getting stuck more and more trying to get back on via stealth

applying for a bank account with no current emplyment will 9 times out of 10 get my application turned down... that will add to my poor credit status as it is

what do we do in a situation like this :>

shall i run the application with say some previous employers details? if they decide to chase me up they will find i no longer work there

oh dear

Go into any high street bank and ask for a basic account that supports DD. Say to them that you do not want any credit, they will do a soft check to confirm your identity and you get one.

If you live in London try Metro and there are other banks as well...Natwest, Barclays, Co-Op - Cashminder account.

Say you work cash in hand or sell online.......................

You don't need to be employed to open a basic bank account, just let them know you'll have income going into the account over time, and thats all they really need to know..

You can apply for basic accounts with RBS, Halifax & NatWest easily online. You can phone the Co-Op up or go to the branch. Barclay's is in branch only.

I have been to them and they told me that their basic accounts don't support direct debit. So you would only be able to use it like a savings account...

They dont credit check you for the basic ones. You will need ID though (they accepted a letter from the dole and a bank statement for mine). Oh, don't bother with Santander, they're ****.

When trying to open a basic account, always stress that its a 'BASIC' account your after, as some bank staff still try and get to apply for a current account.
