New user - dongle question - new idea?

Hello All

I wanted to put this idea across to you all to see your response.

In order for me to start using eBay and PayPal again, i will be buying a new account from one of the sellers on this forum at some point.

Will this work? going to buy a cheap laptop and the only think i will use this laptop is to do my selling with my new eBay and PayPal account, if i buy a dongle for example an o2 dongle pay as you go (3g) can i still be tracked by eBay if i am using the 3g service? Will not be using WI FI

Does 3g have an ip address from which you can be tracked? Or does eBay have any other way of tracking me if i am using 3g internet?

Forgive me if this has already been covered

Thank You all look forward to your replies :-)

I think i might have just answered my own question here lol, i have just played around with my bt broadband home hub and have realized each time i switch the router on and off i get a new ip address, so no need to buy laptop and dongle?

Or have i missed something?

if you buy a laptop and dongel that have never been used before for eby/pp thats good, you wouldn't even need to track i.p address unless you plan to use that dongle on another eby/pp account.

just get a dongle, no need for turning the hub on/off its a hastle, with a dongle just simply unplug/plug to get a new IP

some ISP have fixed IP and shared, so you have to check a few times to make sure your IP is changed each time you connect to your network.

I use a Virgin Mobile portable MiFi when I log in to any of my stealth accounts. I keep an Excel spreadsheet of all the IP addresses that I get and so far none of the IP's have come up the same. Woohoo! I'm sure at some point I will have an identical IP show up. Since I am using a mobile broadband network if I do have any of the same IP's will that be a problem? Anyway my point is I am using about the same thing you are and it so far works well for me and I would recommend it.

You could also use your phone as well if it has a data plan on it and can be tethered.

There is also a sim card that is £5 a month that can be tethered on and you can use that for your phone number and for data usage when using eBay and paypal, it just needs to be in a android phone for most of the time.

Phoen as a tether is a good IP dynamic move

iphone tether not so good anymore... IP's repeat a lot... I mean A LOT! Some people not reported the problem and other have. So its kinda random...

I have used many methods... This is the ip situations that I have encountered...

Embarq Broadband - Same ip last 5 months
iphone 4s on ATT- IP range of 20 or so ip's. Rarely get new ones ( +6 Months)
T-Mobile Rocket 3G - Many ip's. change often. Have gotten repeat only 1/500 (1 1/2 years)
T=Mobile dongle 4G - Aprrox rotation of 100 ips. Have not gotten new ones yet (+2 Months)
Verizon 4G mifi - Approx 100 IP have not gotten new ones yet (+1 month)
Netzero Dial up never had repeating IP (4+ years)

Next i will try blackberry.... If you do then make sure the model number is high enough to have tether function.

I use a Verizon Android phone to tether and I have not had a repeat in IP addresses in over a year. I connect to Eb at least 2 or 3 times a day.

What kind phone are you using? Are you pre-pay or contract....

I love hearing this and always looking for more ways to access.

The FCC has now forced Verizon to allow free tethering on all phones. Verizon is about to get a sh!t load of new customers and hopefully this will force all carriers to follow.
