What happens if there is a negative amount on your paypal with real info?

The paypal and ebay are shut down and its been a month that no one has filed a dispute etc.
I just got an email about someone had returned an item that i do not have anymore and expects a new one.

what should I do?

GreenBean 07-28-2012 08:38 PM

What do YOU think you should do?:ranger:

They only have 45 days to file a dispute. What kind of item was it? Why did they return?

Paypal at some point will turn the account over to a collection agency for collection, the amount you owe does NOT really be as large as you might think. Paypal will SURLY put a Negative remark on your credit report, and in todays day and age, that is DISASTEROUS.

As for your Customer, there is NO DOUBT as to what you should do. Either Refund, or Replace.

It seems to me that you have the Wrong idea about this Forum, we are NOT about Ripping people off, you will NEVER, EVER last on either Ebay or Amazon by even THINKING of treating customers in this manner, BOTH systems are designed to FIND Sellers like that and BOOT them

Take it from me, I have been doing this a Long time, Take GOOD care of the Buyers, and all will go well, most users lose accounts because the sell TRASH, GOOD Products Very RARELY EVER get Returned, or Complained about. So that is you VERY First Priority as a Seller, you MUST have a GOOD Product to sell, the rest is EEEEAAASSSYYY

I think you put the cart before the horse a little bit.... he didn't exactly say the paypal account is in the negative. Although I do agree with you Slapped... maybe he doesn't accept returns and needs to send the item back?

Yeah... I noticed that too.... :>

If your SSN is attached to the paypal account, they will send it to collections. If no SSN is attached, they will still send it to collections with your name on it and if it comes on your credit history you can fight it and say to prove that the debt is yours. They will have no choice but to take it off.

If SSN is attached, just pay the remaining balance owe. Bad credit hits are not worth troubles.

First Edition 07-29-2012 10:53 AM

Even with SSN on their, it doesn't go on credit... it will go to collections regardless.

yotano211 07-29-2012 05:41 PM

It does show up on your credit history. I have known several people with bad marks from Ebay/Paypal on their credit history. They fought it or payed it off so it doesn't show anymore, but it showed.

Not true at all. It will first go through collection and then the collection agency will slap it onto your credit score if they couldn't collect the debt.

I have firsthand knowledge of several situations where this hasn't been the case, some have been going on for over 5 years in collections and over 10 grand. (where it's in collections but hasn't gone to credit I mean). Maybe it's not all?

That may be the way it works in Canada, But SURELY Not in the USA, In Order for Paypal to Write the Debit Off their books they must First put you in Default, and as part of Putting you in Default they WILL Report the Default to the credit Bureaus, then the Collection agency gets Involved, I have seem this MANY Times,

My father, a great business man has always said to me," A great business man never rips off or steals from innocent people, that is a very disrespectful, only low life pieces of **** do it and realistically anyone can do. A true business man rips off and steals from companies/business that steal and rip off there customers for there own gain.

So if I'm going to lie cheat or steal from anyone in this business thats ebay and paypal. They have put me in alot of stress for no reason kept me in debt and not only me but alot of innocent ppl too.

As for me asking about the negative balance my ebay still remains with 100% i had a customer tell me they have returned an item and i have not received it my last sale date was 06/08/12 which is over 45 days i sometimes log into it to look at items whats hot etc and noticed a message, this buyer is being completely dishonest with me i checked the message.

I sent them a message almost 2 months ago asking them to send the item back with a tracking number and i will refund the full amount plus the amount it cost them to ship the item because they had complaint that the item was defective, i did indeed tell them if the cause of the item not working was there fault (drop it broke it, water damage etc) i will not refund them.

They sent me a message a couple days ago saying they had sent the item without a tracking number. Also included in the message if i don't give them a refund they will file a dispute.

I don't even want to bother with any messages on that ebay account or have to do anything with it just wanted to make sure im in the clear.

AS FOR RIPPING PEOPLE OFF I CAN MAKE TONS OF MONEY BY PEOPLE LOVING ME AND NOT HAVING TO RIP A SINGLE PERSON OFF.

I have done mistakes before like sending the customer the wrong color etc and respond back to there message within a few in a way that they will order from me again and hope i make another mistake.

Thank you for understanding, i do not have a negative balance on my account just wanting to know what can happen. Thank you

GreenBean 07-31-2012 07:11 PM

With due respect to your father your interpretation of his advice suxs.

Dont be thinking it is fashionable or acceptable to rip off ebay/paypal.

Certainly do not bother boasting of that here.
