Have just had the same thing happen with my Halifax Account here in the UK, any other members have anything similar happen with UK banks?

Colt, at what point did Halifax contact you about it? & what was the outcome?

The trouble is here in the UK, my experience is that rather than calling you up asking why your receiving deposits in other names, giving you the chance to explain, they just do a blanket shut down of all accounts, normally ending with a category 6 CIFAS marker.

With most the banks merged together in 1 way or another, I suggest you take precautions with who you choose to bank with.

It would certainly help if they did call you first, but it seems this is not the way they do things here!

From what I experienced, they are not even interested in any explanation.

The trouble is...even if they did call first, would they be even remotely interested in any story we came up with? Some how I doubt it.

Not me. I had a transfer come through to my Halifax online savings account yesterday, and was able to transfer it to my current account with no issues.

Me too Elijah - two transfers into Halifax accounts went through OK this week. Still worrying though as Halifax has been rock steady for a while now - can't think why they would select Colt63 can you?

Yep, both Halifax and BoS withdrawals went through fine for me.

Can only assume this is a bank employee that has noticed the different names, flagged it to the branch manager and he has then taken the action based on the account history.

Is it not Bank Of Scotland? HBoS etc?

I have Easycash accounts with both - no issues.

Ebayorbust, he meant LLoyd's TSB. The worst bank for stealth.

Cheers. I wasn't aware of that.

I still dont think this has anything to do with the OP's problem. If it was, it would be far more widespread (unless this is just the start of it).

deffo not long ago and it was them who took over Bos and Halifax.

think it was about 12 months ago or so, but changes are been implineted now, it obvious if you use to your local branches.

So is this causing a problem for lots of people now then or just individuals?
Do we think this is just unlucky for the OP or could they be checking?

I think he has been unlucky...

As far as I can figure out so far it takes some sort of manual review of an account for it to be noticed....

For instance how many bank accounts did he have with the bank? & how many different names were coming into his x amount of accounts? All are factors...if hes got say 7-8 accounts & someone is manually looking at the account for whatever reason they of course are going to ask questions...

The only time we need to worry (apart from bad luck) - is when they are automatically flagged when deposits come in from a different name.
