How does everyone manage (log) their multiple accounts/details when ageing?
 

Hi folks,

I know this has been covered in various ways by others on the forum, but I was wondering personally how everyone manages the paperwork (so account names/address/passwords/emails etc) for their multiple accounts, especially those who use or hold large volumes of ebay and paypal accounts for stealth, when allowing the 30-90 days for their accounts to age.

My thought had been to register each account on a new user on my computer, get a nice big hardback book and note all the details down one page per user. Then delete the user ID on my computer and allow the accounts to age so that I am not tempted to use them before this time.

I think this will work for me, how about you guys?

One other thing - should I add the bank account/credit card to the accounts at the start (when registering) or does it make no difference to leave it until I am ready to use the accounts?

In the UK, im conscious about the 21 day hold nonsense (which I have worked through with my two current stealth accounts) so again should I be having a couple of simple sale transactions in my first week of registering the new accounts in order not to have this 21 day hold when I finally start to use the accounts?

I'm not a great believer in letting accounts "mature" by leaving them to age. Selling straight off the bat is do-able so long as you are sensible. I create an account, buy some stuff within the first week or so then I sell an item.

Your proposed action will not guarantee no 21 day holds when you start to sell again further down the line.

I take a screenshot of the Ebay Registration page, save as JPEG, and then I set it as the desktop background for that particular user account.


Takes 20 seconds, and I don't need to write anything down. Ebay Reg matches Paypal reg always. The only thing I do before setting it as a desktop background, I write the password in red letters next to the " Password Field ". This is mostly for Paypal login, as Ebay logs in automatically.

I use a notepad on desktop for this - same principle but not as flashy.

You can use my template if you like.

It has an option where you enter the date you created the account then at the bottom it tells you the age so you don't loose track when creating lots of accounts.

It also has a second worksheet for IP logging and if a duplicate IP comes up both field will become highlighted in red.

This is a good idea but what if you hard drive fails one day. You say you have no written proof of anything. The day when the drive fails, and they do, you will lose all your accounts.

If you haven't yet, make a backup of your current drive and store it somewhere safe and cool. Heat kills drives faster than Michael Myers on Halloween night. And I would still make a excel file and store it in your email. You don't have to update it every time you make a new account and at least update it every month or so.

Ok so you add another 20 seconds to send it to your preferred email ( attach jpeg ), or backup to a thumb drive.

Personally, I don't run any user accounts on mechanical drives.

i keep my excel file on my 2nd partition on my hard drive and do what yotano says every few weeks. even if my os screws up i can recover it easily. as i am typing this maybe it is a good idea to keep the file in your drop box folder so it updates automatically???

Spend $30 on a large SD card. Every few weeks or so save copies of all your files, copies of your VMware files, and anything else you need to it and leave it in a separate location, preferably in one of those fireproof safes.

isn't the biggest sd is like 32 gig? and vmware files (virtual hard drive copy) starts from 5gigs for Xp and up??

Corsair sells 64Gb for around $100.00 corsair.com

dropbox box also works well...I have a few laptops and information is always there if you add something automatically synchronizes data so you don't have to have any usb,external hard drive and so on all the time and information will never be lost.....

Don't forget to set a password on your files :)

Mine is a 64gb. It was on sale for $39 and it had a $10 or $15 rebate.

My VMware file is set for 40gb and that leaves plenty of room to store all my files, including templates for all those darn documents that they want sent in and all my pictures.

As for storage...

I have a raided SD setup, backup to USB thumb drive & free 7 gig cloud MS skydrive.

You guys make this way more complicated then it actually is. My 2nd grader niece can keep track of all this info on a single sheet of white paper.

That being said I have a text doc. entitled "Account Info" on my master user account that has all the info written down for all my accounts.

Eg:
ebay acc name
email address <--- used for both eB/Pp

Name: ???
DOB: ???
Address: ???
Phone: ???

etc. info, status of account, date established
___________________________________________

ebay acc name
email address <--- used for both eB/Pp

Name: ???
DOB: ???
Address: ???
Phone: ???

etc. info, status of account, date established


and on and on and on....

But what if you need to recover it and need security Qs etc? Can't hurt to write down anything you might need.
