Default verifying bank account

Two weeks now and STILL the two small deposits haven't gone in. Should I try again or wait? Bank Coop, account stealth, totally different name.

Even if it isn't, you should still get the deposits. I would try it again.

Before you try again, check the actual account to make sure Co-Op have got it right.

We had two accounts with them made online that were not 'right'.

Just logged onto Paypal and now more baffled than ever. Went into my account which said "unconfird. Deposits not sent" Pressed the right button which took me to the direct debit. Completed that again. Got the message "your direct debit has already been submitted" What next?

Coop account was opened a few weeks ago. I've put £50 in it to keep them happy. Logged onto it on internet on several occassions and there is no change - still reads £50.00. By the way, the £50.00 was paid into the account via internet from ane of my other accounts so there seems to be no reason why they can't accept the two small payments.

Oh heck now I'm completely buggered.
Phoned the bank and they confirmed no deposits. Emailed paypal and they say they have. Their advise - which I followed - was to delete the account and then add it again going thro' the whole process as before. Well, I deleted, added, and now they want to phone me to confirm I own the bank account. Problem is that the phone number is still the one I bought with stealth account, and my mobile and home number is used on other paypal accounts. So I guess I have no option but to go out and buy another mobile phone just to get this sorted?

No, go onto SOHO66, buy the £2 option for 1 phone number then redirect to a working home phone / mobile. Thats the cheaper option.

What type of COOP account is it? Cashminder or a full on current account?

It's a current account. What sort of questions are they likely to ask? If it's about a street near by I wouldn't have a clue!

What stops you from getting another SIM card? A new phone would be excessive... simply not needed.

The phone call is simply an automated call, so you do not have to say anything. They will phone you and then once you hang up, you will have passed the "test" and got your bank acount added.

Edit: this won't work once you have changed the phone number... they will ask you your security questions instead.

I hope that you remember the answers... or this could turn into a bit of a mess; I was in this same situation 2 days ago... tried adding a new bank to an account as the original bank was closed a while back, and they wanted to phone me. The phone number was phake so I tried updating it to a real one... but once I did that they asked me security questions instead. I did not remember the answers (it was an account from before I became a "professional") and had to phone PayPal up and after looking at my account, they told me that I would not get the security questions again. But I did... so I phoned them again and suggestd that they get one of their higher-up staff to add the account manually. They agreed and once it was done, that was it.

I've just read another thread where paypal deposits the two small amounts, and then recovers them immediately. Possibly getting the true name on the account. Maybe that's happened here?
To go back to the actions I have taken so far. Emailed Paypal and the reply was to delete the bank account, re submit it and complete the DD process. When I entered the bank details there was a note "change name?" Does this mean they smell a rat? They also want to telephone me. I have now changed my mobile number. Is it worth the risk to continue?

Ceebee,

Take a DEEP breath. You just read a thread for the USA regarding those deposits. If the 'true' name was known, paypal would have reacted differently.
If you were 'sprung' paypal would have gloated by now

if its bounced because of name difference then you would have an email and the bank account would be removed from pp

Personally i would delete the bnk account and add another one or f it off and start again.

Now they want copy of bank statement so that they can verify manually. OK so I've downloaded, changed the name , and it's ready to go. Question - if they are verifying manually will the REAL name on the account crop up?
