Be careful of this ebay scammer!!!!!!

Hello Folks,
I would like share my story with ebay sellers here.I don't know if you guys had been scammed or no before,I was scammed second time after selling 3 years on ebay.
So here is what happened, my wife got an iphone and wanted to get rid of Htc which she bought around 6 moths ago.It has been taken care of very well,in 100% perfect working condition. So I listed for sale on ebay as buy it now on a steath account. In less than 2 hours of the listing became alive, the phone was sold.My wife and I were so happy that it got sold so fast and were impressed with ebay how much trafffic they got ,,,
I packed the phone very well,I paid for signature confirmation,I also paid to insure the phone.
After the phone was delivered, the buyer claimed the phone was not powering on and has water damage!!!! What a liar!! he/she filed a dipuste on ebay without even communicating to me.Ok,I told the buyer to return the same phone in its original condition for a full refund.

I have been emailing the buyer everyday to ask for the tracking number since the buyer filed a dispute. The buyer never replied. After a few days, the buyer finally gave a tracking number in the dispute and escalate the case to ebay customer support right away! Ok,I will be very happy to refund the buyer if I receive the Same phone in its original conditon,However I did not receive the phone!!!!!! His tracking number was showing it was delivered, but I never got it!!! Of course, ebay decided in the buyer/scammer's favor and refunded the sammer's money.
So I have been thinking that ebay will refund anyone's money as long as it is showned delivered on the USPS.com website and the zip code match the seller's return address. So that is easy to scam on ebay!! I can buy anything under $250 on ebay ,file a dispute , send a piece of paper or a piece of junk to any address that match the seller's zip code.As long as it is shown delivered on the website and the zip code match the seller's zip code ,you will get refunded!!! Wow,that is easy to scam on ebay!
Later on I just noticed the buyer's account was registerd on August 26,2012.the buyer is pretty new and only has 1 feedback, maybe this is a good sign not to sell expensive/high end item to new ebayer!!!

meVebay 09-14-2012 04:35 PM

Yeah but your also revealing to an open forum your user ID, which you've openly admitted is a stealth account.

And selling those DVD's too

I'm surprised the bootleg DVD comment didn't get you shut down!

Edit your post. Remove the item details, remove dates, remove ALL DETAILS.

 :juggle:

blueskyorders 09-14-2012 04:54 PM

oh,yes, should remove the details. guess sombody did the job for me

GrannyT 09-14-2012 04:56 PM

Nicely done!

Jigsaw 09-14-2012 05:02 PM

Do you have an option to appeal eBay's decision? Did you receive something different with the tracking number on the parcel/letter?

blueskyorders 09-14-2012 05:16 PM

I received nothing.I asked the buyer to send the phone back to my UPS store address,I have checked twice in te UPS store,no package from the scammer at all!!!

So what this scammer did was google any address that matched my UPS store adress zip code and sent a piece of paper(for exmaple), then the scammer got refunded!!!
Yes,I did appeal, but ebay said the UPS store mesed it up,The UPS store is reponsible for the missing item. But how can I prove to UPS store that the package was sent to the UPS store?!and not somewhre else that has the same zip code?

Jigsaw 09-14-2012 05:28 PM

Can USPS tell you what address was written on the parcel/letter and maybe provide a written statement as evidence for eBay?

I have had this kind of scam happen to me in the past on eBay and the scammer provided a tracking number that says delivered with my address post code but I got nothing. In the UK we use Royal Mail and they were able to reveal what the address was on the parcel and provide evidence to help my case on eBay which I won in the end.

Bunneh 09-14-2012 05:51 PM

Well the tracking label should have the zip code on the receipt along with the weight..so ask him to email you a copy of the tracking label/receipt and if that doesn't work, tell the buyer you gonna report him to the police for fraud?
What else have you got to lose?
I know i wouldn't just forget £250.00

After all,

What you do in the dark, always comes to light :amen:

This works like a charm. I had an my works send an item to the wrong address ( same state though. I couldnt figure out why they buyer didnt receive it. Put in a claim with USPS and a few days later they told me EXACTLY where it was delivered to...

slim jim 09-14-2012 08:35 PM

yes for sure, that is how they can catch fraud. in the US it is called a 'tracer'. they will give you a case # and usually someone from your local post office will call you with details

blueskyorders 09-14-2012 11:05 PM

thank you guys,I had contacted the post office, waiting for their reply.
The sammer refused to reply my email.
Ebay already denied my appeal. So I guess I have to write it off as a loss.
But I did no know that it is so easy to fool ebay and get free stuff with not much efforts

You need to report the buyer. Misuse of Buyer Protection. Takes 3 minutes.

Do your duty, for the sake of other sellers.

yotano211 09-15-2012 03:48 AM

You do know that the buyer had to sent the item back to the stealth address or the address on the account in order to get a refund. I was told that by some ebay customer reps. So I think you would have still lost the case cuz the buyer sent it back to some UPS PO Box.

I would not file it off for a loss, time to file a police report in the buyers city or in your city. I don't know the process cuz this has never happened to me. I dont sell anything more then $200-300 on ebay. I always like to do high price personal items over CL, in person and with cash in hand. Even if I have to sell it lower.

rsot 09-15-2012 06:59 AM

Police report unlikely to do much but you have the buyer`s real address?

yotano211 09-15-2012 02:34 PM

Threatening police action is enough for most people. They will get scared and automatically think jail time or fine. It works more often than people think.

They might not do much or if anything but the OP has higher chances of getting his phone back.

rsot 09-15-2012 03:31 PM

Oh I missed that it was about the phone - sure the threat works

newjerseymax 09-16-2012 01:23 PM

Police Report unlikely to scare a professional scam artist...

MichaelW 09-17-2012 03:34 PM

Is that GSM or CDMA phone?

that is a good idea not to sell expensive stuff online. My friend used to sell expensive scanner,he got scammed too! the buyer took the important parts out of the scanner and sent the frame of the scanner back to my friend, the buyer got refunded! ! I just can't believe it!!!

blueskyorders 09-18-2012 12:45 AM

So Folks, if you need sell something like over 250,if the buyer wish to return for a refund,I think the best way is probably to send a prepaid return shipping label for the buyer to return. In my case,I did offer to send him a prepaid shipping label if he has a printer,he did not reply if he had a printer,so I went ahead and told him to return to my UPS store address,BIG BIG MISTAKE!!!!!!!!!!

HTC purchased 6 months ago?

Have you the paperwork, of any sorts? Where did you purchase the cell phone?

Subject to your having certain info, there is action you can take.

Could be very effective action.

Yep agreed, for example if you have the purchase receipt you can report the phone as stolen and the phone will get blocked, and you wont be able to make calls on it.

rsot 09-18-2012 04:08 AM

Maybe just learn and let go at this point.

Maybe this is the reason why a lot of scammers get away with what they do.. people just give up.

No matter how much one earns, $250 is a large amount of cash to just throw away and forget about.
I mean he obviously sold the phone, because he needed the money in the first place.

I would agree, since the OP is not a full time Ebay seller I would pursue this person until I get my phone back. If the OP was a full time seller, I would just say, live, learn, and move on.

I dont know what to say, never has happened to me. I would still just go down to the local police station and see what they say about this matter. I don't think that being stealth would have any problems, you still sold the phone to the buyer and he cheated you. A crime was committed.

Never hurts to ask the local police. It wont take too much of your time.

Walk away from $250 without attempting resolution?

This kind of stuff really gets my panties in a bunch... Hate scamers! :mad2:

J1mgg 09-20-2012 04:57 PM

Get your girlfriend to report the phone as stolen or lost and get it blocked, sadly this means you won't get your money back, but it doesn't look like you are going to anyway.
