Anybody willing to post what companies work? I have tried many that dont work. Im trying to buy something for a couple of days now and everytime I buy something I have to verify the number. Help please?

GreenBean 09-22-2012 02:39 AM

Why not say what you have already tried?

I buy a cheap $10.00 track phone. It comes with 10 free minutes. I set it up using a different phone (so not to burn the 10 minutes included) I then open up G mail accounts and get Google voice with it. I can usually successfully get 3-5 Google numbers forwarded to the track phone before Google stops allowing me to use that forwarding number. Track phone will allow 4 number changes per year. After that they just require you buy new minutes, or just get a new phone. So for $10.00 you can get at least 8-9 free Google numbers, Buy a new $10.00 phone ( sell the old one on eBay) or buy new minutes and get more numbers. Works great!! :thumb:

I already tried vumber and it says that it cant verify the home or mobile number.

I searched flynumber and people say it does not work. I tried google voice by getting a google voice and getting the text message from paypal or a phone call and no luck either.

I even put down a t-mobile prepaid phone number I pay monthly regularly and no luck either. Any other choices?

norma 09-23-2012 07:04 AM

Hi, I've tried them all, & for buying, paypal wants (really, requires) a landline.

rsot 09-23-2012 08:11 AM

Not true at all - people here have worked ok with GV

You have to be doing something wrong.

Each & every option has failed? Gimme me a break:pop2:

Did you TRY flynumber yourself or take the word of strangers?

When you tried gv & it failed did you post here of your lack of success?

Did you spend any money on any of these

I personally tried pre-paid cell, a brand-new subscribed cell, Flynumber, and others, and while those are still active on my ebay & paypal account, THE ONLY ONE THAT PAYPAL WOULD VERIFY IS A LANDLINE.

Maybe things are different for US buyers. I also needed to keep landline due to fact that paypal will still occasionally verify a purchase, requiring a code. That did calm down after 500 or so purchases.

yotano211 09-23-2012 07:55 PM

Dude I just did 3 new accounts last night using Google Voice and it worked for 2, the third one I used virgin mobile. Don't tell us that only land line works. I have used the same method for the past year.

I'm sorry but your doing something wrong.

rsot 09-24-2012 06:03 AM

Might need to discuss the issue with folx in the know if you are having such problems.

Have you attempted to MAKE A PURCHASE with these accounts?

astralman 09-26-2012 01:04 PM

I signed up for google voice and got it to forward to my cell phone.

everytime i put the google voice number in paypal for a purchase it says we cannot verify your number with the database.

I think you just have luck then.

rsot 09-27-2012 04:06 AM

Cant be just luck if it`s working for hundreds of people.

Get a tracfone and try it out.

I recall all your troubles.

You did explain your problems fully as I remember.:)

norma 09-27-2012 05:08 AM

I'm thinking this issue with paypal verification has everything to do with PURCHASES. With all the CC fraud out there, paypal wants a landline linked to CC's and address where CC statements are mailed.

Also, this is a paypal thing, ebay was cool with pre-paid cell.

Roma198808 09-27-2012 08:56 PM

I'm having the same issues with my PayPal BUYING accounts. I have luck to make 5-30 purchases with a new account and then PayPal asks for call verification. No matter what forwarding things I tried, nothing works for any of those accounts! Even my new real cellphone number.

When I call PayPal none of the representatives (even the supervisors!) understand why its happening... But then they say, have you tried a landline? I say I don't have one.

norma 09-27-2012 09:33 PM

A landline WILL solve this issue.

astralman 09-28-2012 03:52 AM

I waited a couple of days and didnt ask me for the number. Then it would ask me for the number.
Paypals system is stupid that its a must for a landline usually these days.

Do they not know people use cell phones and other means these day.

Roma198808 09-28-2012 10:20 AM

Since they kinda push now to provide them with a landline number and since I never had one... I have a question.
If I get one, will they be able to get the info about that number? Or do they only see a new number and not real info about the landline's subscriber?

aking 09-28-2012 11:43 AM

google voice works for me!

Think about it, if you had a roommate, couldn't they have their own landline phone number....hint, hint.

I put my delivery address as billing address, with variation of my name. Paypal does want billing address to match delivery address, along with CC billing address. Match everything up.

Caller ID shows stealth name also.

norma 09-28-2012 05:45 PM

Forgot to add: landline is at my home address, which has been banned by ebay. Billing address is different.

Only risk is, you don't know until you try whether the new landline number has been linked to banned account. Just have to try.

There must be some type of filter for this, I have a new method of collecting about $650 in sales before I even open a paypal account. I can get this amount in about 3 days of selling, once I open the paypal account within minutes the money shows up and I purchase prepaid visas online and usually within a day paypal shuts me down. I find that if I let $700 or more in paypal it automatically limits me and if I have it for even 3 or 4 days it limits me so this has been the best method for me as I already get what I need to get 15 minutes after opening the paypal account. Now it is telling me to verify a phone before I can purchase, sucks but I guess they want a landline. I already verified a phone number with paypal code and all but for purchasing they want this. I am thinking they added a filter for sellers who either get a lot of money in a very short period of time or if they are trying to buy something right after they opened their paypal. Is anyone getting this message and already have a buying history?

It took a number of purchases before I no longer had to use verify code. At least a month, if not longer. I guess I need to build up a pattern, & with all the CC fraud, they want a landline. I could not find a way around this.

If a landline is the problem, what about the Magic Jack?

Landline is not the problem, rather, the solution.

shogun1 10-05-2012 12:39 AM

Well I had the infamous landline problem and kept getting the error message also, I changed the address on paypal slightly and tried to order again and it went through, Keep in mind an hour before that I tried and it gave me the phone confirmation error. I purchase vanilla visas from walmart,It could be a coincidence but I am happy I was able to move a few hundred dollars that was stuck in paypal.

Prodiger 10-09-2012 05:05 PM

I've tried flynumber.com with Craigslist but it didnt work. Could you recommend me something?

I dont need to make a purchase, I have a "buyers account" for that. I only make sellers account. And yes, I have made some selling on those 3 accounts. The accounts are in cool down mode now and will wait until next month to fully sell. And these accounts dont even have a bank account attached, but a credit card.

And I have never used a landline in my life to verify ebay. You guys are doing something wrong. flynumber.com still works and google voice still works on my end.

My experience is well-documented. I believe newer accounts to PURCHASE WITH CC will need a land-line. I am in the midst of opening up several new purchasing accounts, and I will post my paypal phone verification experiences/hassles as I go along.

If your trying to tell me to use a land line to verify everything in ebay/paypal land, then you are mistaken. I have never used a land line to verify anything with ebay/paypal.

And why are you opening up many/several "purchase" accounts when 1 works fine. What are you trying to do, become some "power buyer" so you can just snap your fingers and ebay/paypal will come with coffee and cookies. The cookies are old and the coffee is from last week.

When you open a "buyers/purchase" ebay account you dont even need to verify your phone number. I can make one in under 3 minutes with a slow 3g phone connection.

mastaflappa 10-25-2012 08:10 PM

paypal sometimes makes you call to confirm location when sending money or making a purchase, not the same thing as making a seller account, any phone will work for that but for confirming location in paypal.

I'm trying to come up with the same thing, anyone know how how to confirm location using magic jack?

Packattack12 11-04-2012 11:29 AM

Try the app 'Pinger' for the iPhone. Works perfect for me and you can keep getting a new number by creating new usernames...real simple, free, and never had an issue.

DoubleA 11-05-2012 12:51 AM

Great Idea: Packattack12

rsot 11-05-2012 03:26 PM

Ropey 11-05-2012 06:06 PM

Anyone got one for UK? Pinger is US only :(
