Is giving buyers Non payment strikes worth it nowadays?
 
I sold some of my golf club sets recently. The stock photo has complete 8 clubs
but then I also took photos of my own to show and there's only 5, plus I put in the description there's only 6 to pw . thus 5 pcs. In bold at that too.

The buyer said "I saw your photo and it shows 8 clubs, you should have put it in your description that it's only 6 to pw" .

So i emailed him back asking him how the hell did he know it's only 5 clubs if I didn't put it clearly in the description? =)

Overall, it ticks me off... and I'm for sure going to open a non payment claim on eBay.

The listing should concisely illustrate by photos AND state in words the specifics of the sale. If there's a difference it might be problematic.

It's beyond some buyers to deal with anything other than that. They perceive' 8 clubs of a photo, good price because in fact it's a lesser number stated.... their brains do not compute & thus they complain.

Not sure about non-payment strikes on these grounds. :peace:

funny thing is that the stock photo may look nice, but it's HARD to see 8 total clubs...

this guy I think is just changing his mind and tries to put the blame on me.

Not going to let it slide.

In my opinion, it's not worth it to give a buyer a non-payment strike. Especially if you are in contact with your customer.

Just let it go with a cancel transaction request and save yourself the headache of a possible bad feedback and DSR rating.

It's way better to deal with this now, then accepting a return and being out more money. :)

If you open an unpaid and they don't pay, they can't neg you.

If you request cancellation, they sure can :)

OK, so your logic is:

To force the buyer to buy something they don't want or made a mistake in buying, then accept a return and take a Feedback and DSR hit.

I guess I operate on a "Customer Service" level of thinking. ;)

If the buyer was gonna pay, then he would have paid already.

I think the OP is pissed off and wants to pull some sort of revenge to hurt the buyers reputation, when in reality ebay does nothing to these buyers, nor will it hurt him in any way since he can just open another account. :doh:

The OP should really take the moral high ground in this, otherwise it could turn around and bite him in the ass!:juggle:

But at the end of it all, it is really your choice what you choose to do with your account...I know what i would do :pop2:

By opening an unpaid item, you do not force the buyer to pay. If this was the case, more people would do auctions, including myself.

They usually won't pay, so you just protect yourself by opening an unpaid item, compared to cancellation request.
