Ebay ask for ID confirmation: what to do

I was using the same dedicated proxy for awhile but when I renewed the dedicated proxy it would often times change the numbers ip address If I didn't renew it before it expired.

(Please contact customer care to help us confirm your identity
Once your identity is confirmed you can continue with your activity)

Now ebay is asking me this when I try to list more than 2 cellphones in the cellphones category. When before it would normally just say I hit my category limit for the month,

I was just seeing if They had risen my category limit yet.

What I think happened was they might have been getting ready to raise it but sense I had signed into ebay using a few ips addresses in the past they now want to verify my identity before they do so.

So I Am sellling stealth under my fathers name. I Have his social and him connected to my friends address which is not my real address.

I have not submitted a social security number to ebay yet.

I was wondering what will ebay ask me if I call them?. And what to be prepared for or if I should be calling them at all.

Should I offer to give them a social security number?. Thanks.

It was most likely due to the proxy. They cannot pinpoint your location with a proxy and it makes them nervous.

And no, never offer up any information unless it is asked of you. And even then, since it is your fathers information, DO NOT give it to them. Ask them for an alternative to the SSN. Do not ruin your families credit for a moronic company such as paypal.

Also, they will ask questions about the account: (Age, DOB, address, etc) be prepared with the info that you have. They might try to trick you up as well.

Agree with cj :thumb:

Have you permission to use your father's info?

Even so, what inspired that silliness?

All details of the account creation are sketch.... Dad's info, proxy? Not wise long term:shhh:

Had to confirm my identity recently on a brand new stealth because my iPhone tether kept disconnecting and I kept signing in with new IP addresses within a short amount of time.

Called in and they asked for Name, DOB, address and phone number, those alone should do the trick. I don't think they will ask for SSN if it's not in the system already.

What department did you call?. Also i think I might have to disguise my voice a little sense I'm only 22.

Also do you think I should wait and call them until the money in my papal.can be withdrawn in case of a ban.

also should I call with the phone that I signed up with eBay with or is it okay to use any phone. Or even a blocked number if anyone knows.

Thanks again.

I had anotherquestion. What should I tell eBay if they ask me or should I say tell me that my account has logged onto eBay from multiable locations?. Thanks

If eb asks that, you say either you were travelling or vacation or you also do sales rep work and must travel - be creative.

Your story is beginning to smell fishy to tell you the truth.

I don 't know where the location of the ips's were but could I also just say I have no idea why?.

Athletichunta 10-08-2012 06:12 PM

I will be calling them and all letting you all know how things turn out after I can get my money out of my paypal account.

Can I tell them I was changing my internet service so I had been testing out different internet services to see which one I liked instead of traveling.

Do you guys think this is a good idea?. Could that work?.

My ebay is under my fathers info. I have to confirm identity. I don't sound like 57

I'm 22. Yeah a Chinese operator might not be able to tell but when they ask my date of birth is there anyway to get around this except for disguising your voice and whatever?. thanks.

crafty1 10-13-2012 02:08 AM

Well you shouldn't be using family members detail full stop........... Its likely to go wrong at some point......

MM78 10-13-2012 02:09 AM

Does your Dad know you have an account in his name?

crafty1 10-13-2012 02:18 AM

I bet the answer to that would be NO:peace:

Personally, I've called eBay several times under my father's account (with his name & info) and didn't have a single problem. I'm around your age as well.

derbydave 10-13-2012 02:56 AM

smoke a couple of cigars (and pretend they're proper cigs) to get that middle-aged man sounding voice, then call them
