| | | afarmington | 10-12-2012 05:52 PM | PP going from 21 to 14 day hold? I logged into my paypal and noticed funds had been released sooner than expected. And now look at my ebay, it shows funds expected to be available for my items paid today, in 2 weeks. I thought they held funds for 21 days, then stopped holding them period? My first items sold a couple months go on this account, so I was thinking I would have 21 day hold for a while yet. |
| GreenBean | 10-12-2012 06:20 PM | How long is a piece of string? Such is the nature of holds.
Holds can, and do vary.
There is even some degree of variations between countries based on my observations.
Not unreasonable to think your account is ticking all the boxes (of trust). Funds get released.
This is what you want. Do keep in mind, holds could get re-applied ( without warning).
If you are selling, shipping quickly & operating fine, this is what you need.
Good Work :thumb: |
| afarmington | 10-12-2012 06:29 PM | Thank you GB :)
I list that I ship in 3 business days. But always ship same day or next morning if paid after PO is closed. That way they get it sooner than expected and hopefully happily surprised. Also add tracking to the auction quickly.
Now if ebay would just increase my 10/500, I would be over the moon lol. |
| GreenBean | 10-12-2012 07:04 PM | From your descriptions, your limits will be increased if ebay stays happy
If the account goes smoothly, that's the reward :thumb: |

| afarmington | 10-12-2012 07:48 PM | Thank you guys :p I was hoping for an increase the first of this month.
Didn't happen tho. So I listed my ten items again. Only difference is I did a lot more auctions. And items I had been holding, that I'm fairly sure will sell for decent amount, were put into auctions. Not only will my ten be maxed out, but I will most certainly surpass the 500.00 mark.
FB is very good (over 100 now), not selling high risk items.....or drinking coffee with my left hand  If they don't increase me this next time, I will prolly have to have a crying fit lol
PS:GB, during one of my many late night reads among old threads, I got hooked on one. It was the thread where peeps posted auction, garage sale, thrift finds. It ended up being closed. Any chance of it being opened again? |

| GreenBean | 10-12-2012 11:27 PM | Let'd do TV reruns ( in another thread) ;) |
| LoopHole | 10-13-2012 01:47 AM | Ship faster. |
If you are not careful 21 day hold can turn into 180 day hold very quickly - go with the hold, ship quickly, let feedback come - do this for 2 other accounts and spread the head. |
| afarmington | 10-20-2012 11:45 AM | Update: Paypal is now releasing my funds as soon as the item shows delivered. Even if buyer has not left FB. Good thing, because half of them don't :) Just crossing my fingers they don't decide to limit my account now that everything is going smooth like butter  |
| mattytman | 10-20-2012 12:02 PM | Depending on what goods you sell you could always add a 'bonus' gift for the buyer. Works well for speeding up feedback.
Bad news is though... I bought a laptop for the Missus last Xmas. Cost £220 with NO accessories. Big box turned up and inside was a Laptop, mouse, mousemat etc etc and because it was 'a special week' he even threw in a dvd player that linked up to laptop. I hopped onto eBay and left glowing feedback. DOH!!! My mistake. Six hours later I realised NONE OF IT WORKED and I had no leg to stand on... |
| afarmington | 10-20-2012 12:19 PM | I sell mainly antiques/vintage items, along with other misc items I come across.
If I'm able, I throw in a bonus. But for items I'm not, I thought about buying thank you cards in bulk along with a piece of candy or something.
I already ship fast, send an email thanking them for their purchase and email letting them know item has been shipped with tracking number.
Checked my DSRs last night. All are 4.8 except shipping cost is 5 since I did so many free shipping in the beginning. IDK at what point ebay limits you for your stars tho. |
| mattytman | 10-20-2012 02:04 PM | Nice touch with thank you card and candy.
But with my luck these days I would probably end up sending them to a blind diabetic and end up receiving negative feedback for being rude and thoughtless, lol. |
