USPS no Express option to Russia

I just read around about this. No shipping to Russia via Express or Priority via Ebay, Paypal, or USPS website directly. I'm sure Pitney Bowes and other such similar sites are affected as well.

Kazakstan has Priority but Express was removed.

Apparently there is an exploit in the shipping software/script/flash, or something among the lines, and people had huge amounts of labels printed from their Paypal accounts.

Can only buy the postage at the Post Office in person ( 1 hour wait line here ). Guess I have to exclude Russia from my listings. Kazakstan is ok I guess, as you can print Priority and use Shipcover Insurance. I'm wondering if other countries in that region are affected as well.

This has been going for weeks/months now, and there is no fix for it yet ( except the exclusion of Priority and Express from those countries ).

I recently had an account get two times MC999 within 10 days and was asked to change password, security questions. I wonder if the shipping hack might have caused those MC999.

Really didn't need this for the Holidays. Russians were excellent customers.

Second best after UK Shoppers.

Prices through the roof over the Atlantic.

Anyway... guess people don't ship much Intl. here. But it seems to be a serious problem.

Here is a good read for those interested:

Donkey Express: Mules Take Over the Mail — Krebs on Security

They would sell a 150$ label for like 20$.

USPS Online labels disabled for Russia, Ukraine, Latvia, Estonia, Belarus, Kazakstan so far that I found out. Most likely there are some others. I really hope USPS ups it's security, this has been going on for several months already.

I hope you know that USPS doesn't handle mail in Russia or any international country. That is all handled by their own local post office, USPS only works within the US and US owned territories.

The issue with Russian mail going lost or mishandled is the problem of the Russian post office.

Completely irrelevant to this thread. This is not about lost or mishandled mail. Wrong thread.

That's what I do, but still it's extremely inconvenient.

Opens at 9am here, 7+ people waiting at the doors every day since mid October.

During the day, 10-20 people line, with average waiting time of 30-40 minutes, xD

jamcocktail21 11-20-2012 07:04 AM

Wow ....I am going at 9 at the post office every day and nobody is there:)

I guess it depends on area. I'm in one of the big cities. Just came right now, 20 minutes wait xD

I noticed this a couple weeks ago. I can still buy EMS, Priority, for Russia and Kazakstan through stamps.com account, so I would suggest that if your doing a lot of business with them.

i had also noticed that auctiva shipping insurance no longer insured packages to russia and a lot of areas around. i think because once the package gets to russia, their internal 'usps' is so screwed up that they could not guarantee the express times and would not want to refund customers because it took longer than usual

Many Thanks, thats good news. I wonder how Stamps.com managed to keep their security up and USPS and Paypal couldn't.
