SSN request from ebay

Just today I logged in PP with my legitimate account that I have had since 2004. It said they needed to verify my SSN. I was like what?? So I called in and they told me this is new starting today the 15th for federal reasons. Well I had already done this, but called in and they did verify my SSN. I did have a choice to upload docs, but everything would have to match. Are they going to start doing this for all accts? P.S. This is a top seller account with tons of feedback and no selling limits.

This is not really new - PP asks for SSN when an account is under risk ...had your account be inactive? change computers? too much sales? Explain please

Your title says asked for SSN request by ebay.

Then your opening sentence talks of signing into paypal.

Just a typo?



What volume of sales have you had? Any correlation to the IRS requirements.

You say everything would have to match. I don't understand if there should be a problem if it's your own SSN.

Elaborate more, please.

Verify as in you already gave them your SSN and they are trying to find out if the numbers you gave them are true or did you never give it to them?

I haven't got a message like that on any of my accounts, would be a huge problem if they started asking for SSN on all selling accounts...

I haven't been asked this before. It would be scary if they make everyone add a ssn, we'd all be screwed.

Did you have the option to add an EIN? Or did you already have an EIN attached?
