elance & paypal

Recently been thinking to start my own site..i was looking to get a contractor off freelancer.com but the prices seemed way too good to be true and after research on a few forums decided to not use them..I've been more directed towards odesk..and more favorably elance..elance say they have 'elance escrow' and paypal as an option..I was thinking to buy from elance..but I wanted to know
(1) does anyone have any experience with elance?
(2) i'm buying in dollars so will paypal charge my card for this as I'm UK based? (overseas transaction fee?)
(3) say the site i get is is crap or not delivered has anyone got experience on elance and if you do get your money back?

Lots of online sites where you can design and build your own site tailored to your particular business sector. Also has all backend stuff available for taking online payments and merchant accounts.

As Keith Lemon says "Easy as peas"

I agree with GreenBean. This book will be helpful to you no matter which provider you go with (or if your site is custom designed). It defiitely helped me!

1) I have found elance is an invaluable resource in my experience.
2) I would imagine there is a currency conversion fee/exchange rate if the buyer/seller currencies are in different currencies i.e dollars & pounds.
3) I suggest you should look at this very closely:***.elance.com/p/legal/dispute-resolution-process.pdf

If you have the time to sink and a little bit of knowledge about web design you can probably do something yourself with wordpress, oscommerce, or something similar. If your doing a website that you expect to sell 100s of products a month though I would suggest paying someone as any website with any level of popularity is going to attract hackers and you have to take security seriously or your website will get hacked.
