Thinking of buying a item with 30+day handling time

There is a item I reallly would like to purchase on ebay.

It has a long handling time , 30 plus days, I do not mind waiting. The estimated arrival time is a few days past the 45 day claim period.

Now the seller has good fb but you never know,.

How would I be protected as a buyer if the item does not show or is snad?

You would think as a seller I should know but never came across this before.

Fund the purchase with a credit card if possible so then you can still chargeback up to 180 days (which is supposedly the reason why Paypal loves to limit us so much...).

Unless this is a custom made item, there should be no reason why it should take so long to receive.

Contact the seller and tell them you are interested, but only if they can expedite the handling time.

Curious on the type of item?

I agree with TGMT even from china airmail you should get within 30 days...

I think that the 45 days complaint period would be extended by paypal if you needed it and called them but it is not a certainty...

I agree with Elijah but keep in mind that the average chargeback time allowed by a bank in the US is 60 days. Some will do 90 days. But I do not think 180 days exists anymore.

Credit card payment does have a nice backup to it - you can always contact the seller and work things out with him. Not all are scammers :)

yeah you lose alot of protection with a wait time like that with ebay and paypal. If it is a newer seller he may be trying to get around the 21 day hold and get his money then jet before the expected delivery.

Exists still. Matter of having the right institution.
