NatWest are the worst bank in my experience. They seem great in the beginning but once they notice something they are just the worst to deal with. So this doesn't surprise me at all. Hope you can get this sorted.

Hmmm this is not good news - you got me worrying now, I have a similar amount with Natwest
Were you withdrawing very large amounts on a regular basis into the accounts?

In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if they closed all accounts down but just told you a lie over the phone. That is similar to what happened to me last time. But let's just hope that they haven't done this to you.
I have more accounts with most of the other big banks than I ever did with NatWest and have never had a problem with them.

Same thing happened to me, 2 current accounts and 3 savers....gone! Also logged in, could not transfer any funds, rang them, they told me to come in with ID to sort out.
Went in the following morning, said they were closing the accounts, due to 'security' because money was coming into the accounts under different names?

They don't like you having money coming in from different names.. that's all.
It's the same with ING direct.. they want either the same or a nickname with your PayPal accounts or no dice. It's not a big deal going this route.
If it's something you have to do then do it.. PayPal does not link accounts by name alone so you can use the same or similar name without any problems.

scary | No, not information sharing as that would be a breach of the Data Protection Act
Did you use these accounts for anything other than receiving payments from p/p?
If any bank sees accounts that are not being used in a 'normal' way then they will look more closely at the account activity.
They have a legal obligation to ensure that accounts are not being used for money laundering.
If you have a current/basic account then the bank would expect to see some evidence of 'normal' transactions through it e.g. paying bills by DD or SO.
Savers have always had issues as they are not designed for the purpose we use them for
Something to bear in mind maybe.

logical information and food for thought ..
Maybe a little more effort is required to make our accounts look like standard every day accounts..
I know for my part its true.

I agree with Elijah, Natwest are terrible i've had the same happen with my natwest stealth, and natwest blamed me and tried to say i'm a scammer and question why i'd give a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ name..I said how is it a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ name when it's one letter different..it was a spelling error. And they were complete idiots. Natwest have just been on dispatchers and watchdog for their poor service..so I just left them. Since never had any problems with HSBC or Halifax..

Nat West are as good as any bank, I have numerous accounts with them and never have any issues even during reviews with my account manager.
Stealth banks accounts should be treated the same as stealth e/b & p/p accounts i.e. you should be seen to be acting as a 'real' person.
That's what keeps the bank happy and avoids any undue scrutiny of your accounts.

I know for my part its true. | Standard practice if one is sensible.
After all we have a bank account to use.
Only variation is we are stealth.
Bank account still needs to function like 'normal'. | | The Following User Says Thank You to GreenBean For This Useful Post: | | |

you told the truth, they accepted it, plus you dont look/sound like a scuzz..
lets shatter this myth of completely different names are ok, I think they CAN trip you up, best ways are to be able to say
spelling error
nickname
business name ie. run a business ebay account
if female then same first name and any second name is ok as it can be maiden or even partners etc etc (some ladies adopt BF name even if not married as they live/lived together)
.....all acceptable.
btw tsmt, well done on keeping calm.
