Has anyone ever had a buyer this stupid?

I just had a buyer message me earlier today. She won a crystal glass item that costs a bit under $100. She left me feedback 2 weeks ago saying everything was great. Well, today she sent me a message saying that it fell down after she hit the table, broke into 1000 pieces (her own words) and that she's "really angry" with me and that this "shouldn't be happening" and that she wants a full refund.

I ask her if it arrived in good condition and she said yes and said again that it was because she hit the table it was standing on. So I tell her that it's her fault and that I don't offer a lifetime guarantee on items I sell. What she does with it after she receives it in good condition is none of my business, basically.

Guess what? She opened a PayPal dispute saying "it broke. give me my money back".

MY GOD, I had someone like this before, call Ebay, forwarded her Email as long to paypal while they are over the phone with you, the agent will close that stupid case, and Ebay will know what to do if she will leave you a negative feedback

imjustme 12-19-2012 03:50 PM

I'm lucky - she already left a positive saying she received it OK :bounce:

She must of thought you were a push over imjustme!

slim jim 12-19-2012 05:44 PM

people tend to do these things when they can hide behind a computer

SaiJin 12-19-2012 05:46 PM

OP. I think you know already that when you forward the emails to paypal, it better have the header as well right?

otherwise, PP will not take them?

zoneout 12-19-2012 07:21 PM

Yes.. unfortunately EB doesn't require an intelligence test on new buyer accounts.

"Has anyone ever had a buyer this stupid?"

Yes...even stupider. If you sell enough absolutely nothing is beyond humans.

AmazonStealth 12-19-2012 11:16 PM

I assume all buyers are that dumb. That way you protect yourself from stupidity. I was thinking of coming out with a book. Dumbest people on eBay and Az.

I am willing to bet the the buyer in not Stuid at all,,,in fact the buyer may be very aware of how Ebay/Paypal treat their sellers and may simply be upset that she is out the item and the money and is simply taking a pretty damm good gamble If you ask me on getting her money back and sticking it to some else,,,Stupid??,,,Maybe Not

I'm guessing the buyer really is that dumb because if she had half a brain, she would have concocted a scam to get a refund like saying she noticed that there was damage to it after further inspection or it fell apart on its own because it was improperly manufactured. If she opened a case with Paypal and said that she broke it and thinks that she can win that, she is dumb.

Being smart people here it is hard to fathom that there are people that dumb but there are. After being in the wireless business as long as I have, I have see some extreme morons. I call them sub-humans.

I once had a customer try to get a bluetooth that he lost replaced in store because he believed that the manufacturer's limited warranty covered lost/stolen.

Gamefreak 12-20-2012 02:41 AM

this is pure lolz.. luckily I dont sell glass items. Cant believe she told you the truth

madmuppet303 12-20-2012 09:42 AM

Wow, that's craziest thing I've ever heard a buyer complain about. LOL!!! I bad that you even have to have communication with someone that stupid.

bruceuk 12-20-2012 10:02 AM

I think the chancers come thick and fast this time of year.
Xmas is an expensive time for everyone .
Some have it to spend , some must find ways to find it .
Some of the ways are laughable like the above but lots get away with it.
Some buyers prey on sellers , Its as simple as that .
But it does take a few more brain cells than the person in question to get away with it.
And until EB start banning buyers nothing will change.

testdog 12-20-2012 10:59 AM

Hahahahahaha ! Jesus :D That made my day.

vxmotorsport 12-20-2012 12:33 PM

Totally agree. In fact just had a bloke open a case for INR when track shows delivered. Even if eb allowed us to leave FB on buyers I could at least warn others about this rascal.

That's not entirely true...

Follow this eBay link and type in "report buyer"

http://ocs.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?CustomerSupport

Results (links) will come up as...

How do I report a problem with the buyer?
How do I report a buyer who is misusing returns?
I think my buyer is misusing eBay Buyer Protection. How do I report this?
Reporting a buyer who is breaking eBay rules
My buyer left me an inappropriate Feedback comment
How do I report Feedback manipulation?
A buyer asked me to falsify customs documents. What should I do?

DoubleA 12-22-2012 01:42 AM

Some people do this on the bay.
