Will a EIN number work for Paypal if its in a different Company Name?
 

Hi it has probably been asked before and I searched but no conclusive answer.
So I have an L.L.C. For say the name of Picturex L.L.C it has never been submitted to paypal in any form or number. Now I have a paypal account that is linked to ebay account, it went over the $20.000 so paypal have asked for a SSN or EIN. The ebay account is a personal account opened lets say for the name of Ken Burns, and screen name "Sellgood"

The address in paypal and the L.L.C. i have opened are different and names are different.

So question can I use this EIN of the L.L.C I have opened to provide to paypal?
Or do I must open a new L.L.C. with the actual name and address that I have in ebay?

Anyone? Any info would be appreciated. Specially if someone has tried that.
Unless it is illegal which I do not think it is. Cause the L.L.C is all completely legit.

And on my real name and SSN.

It will not work and it is highly illegal. This has been addressed several times before.

Why illegal? I mean the L.L.C. is in my real name no shady Business here. Is just that Paypal will get an EIN number, which is real but not matching the same name that they and ebay have in their records...

Am I wrong?

Seriously. You want me to explain why it is illegal. The EIN you are trying to use is assigned to one business just like a social security number is assigned to one person. Using the EIN for an account registered in another business name would be like me using your social security number to open a credit card in my name.

But my account on ebay and paypal is not even a business account, it is personal account and it is S@@@TH account anyways so the name is false. When I provide paypal with a EIN they convert this account into a merchant account.

Am I missing something?

If you are saying that the ebay account and paypal account are both personal (which is not what one would be lead to believe by your example of Numerex LLC), you could upgrade your paypal account to a business account. Then you would be able to enter your LLC's real information and EIN.

Ok sorry I did mislead in the original question, my bad.
So yeah it is a personal account on paypal and ebay. I have an L.L.C. with a different name and address then the ebay and paypal accounts. In other words I am afraid that Paypay will know that the L.L.C. is opened for a different address and name then the paypal and ebay account.

So you think it will work?

The only way to do this is to upgrade to a business account and enter your LLC's real info then you can enter your EIN. It will in no way create a problem with the ebay or paypal account's current info.

And thus they will reinstate the account?

Shouldn't be a problem you can register a Dba in any state so the address wouldn't match your personal info anyways. They will probably reinstate it if that was the only outstanding issue.
