How far out can I be from my mail forwarder?

I've been trying to find a suitable mail forwarder for 6 hours. I've found a decent one 133 miles away, but I'm not sure if this close enough.

GreenBean 01-05-2013 03:46 AM

That should not be an issue.....

Bear in mind, that ebay/paypal do not expect people to have everything in one tight geographical location.

133 miles could be part of a person's commute for work purposes. Ebay could have no problem there. It's not their naffin' business.

This is fine - wont be any issue as GB has indicated.

Thanks for clarifying this. Out of interest how far can I be? I found a mail forwarder who is almost 200 miles away - would eBay do an IP lookup and say thats too far out?

GreenBean 01-07-2013 06:07 AM

Not their business.

Not going to concern them

I'm based in London (and use a Three Mifi dongle), so could I use virtual boxes/mail forwarding as far as Newcastle?

Your virtual address can be anywhere you want it to be.

What's important is how mail actually get's to your real address not where your correspondence address is located.

What I actually mean is me being in London and using a Three Mifi dongle (generating London based IP's), and having a selling account with a mail box address in Newcastle. I would only ever receive the raise selling limit code at this address, and will not use the Newcastle address for buying purposes. Would this not be a problem to eB/PP?

Codes sent by letter to your registered address in order to raise selling limits are a very random thing used occasionally by e/b and is not standard procedure (as yet)

IP locations are irrelevant, especially with mobile broadband, they can be hundreds of miles from your actual location.

Also whether the account is used for buying or selling is also irrelevant, what is important is that you have access to any mail from any source sent to that address.
