Ebay asking a photograph of you now!!!!!!

I came across this email from e bay. What are they all about, the account is s t e a l t h so i d is ?
This is a new thing now...no way i am going to send a picture, they act like if we are a criminals...send a pic of myself selling some boring old keyrings and used storage boxes....GOD:faint:

Dear ?????

We'll also accept a photograph of you together with each item you listed as proof of ownership.

You can use our free document upload service to upload the images, or send them to us via fax or post. Copy this link into a new browser window for details:

eBay: Redirect

I'm afraid we don't accept email attachments for security reasons. Any attachments sent to us are automatically deleted by our email system.

If you're faxing or posting your documents, please fill out and print a cover page, and print your user ID and email address in block capitals on each page to help us match the documents with your account. Please note that we can't return photographs.

When we receive your photos we'll review your account and send you an email - whatever the outcome of the review.

I hope that this information is helpful and that I've explained things clearly. We look forward to receiving your documents and resolving this matter as soon as possible.

I hope the above information was useful.

Many thanks,

eBay Motors Pro Team

what nonsense is this?

zoneout 01-10-2013 10:36 AM

This isn't key rings dude. It's car parts. Hooray for eBay standing up to get these chop shops off the Internet. Best news I've seen.

I think sending a photo of you with the item is normal policy to see if you have the item. I'm sure you can just blank your face though. Anyone correct me if I'm wrong.

Is this a brand new account?

eternity4u 01-10-2013 12:49 PM

Sorry, did not realise that i had created two threads, was a mistake..oops

Yes, this is abrand new account, i listed something right away. But it was two keyrings and a storage box. The reason i sell some items like this due to make it look like a personal account and then i build it towards a good solid accounts.
Does not make a difference the way i made it, that day i had done 3 accounts and one of the account is still fine.

Has someone came across this? I can't send a pic of mine since the I D is not real....also i have sent them the picture of the items....seriously..whats next DNA

I think this picture idea can actually become fun

I think e/b and p/p's current policy is if anything is obscured on any docs/photos you send them they are automatically rejected.

Last blanked out face got the account well and truly blanked out....

There's a certain way of attempting this. A phone call to them & smooth talking may be get this need removed.

But, since the request came from ebay motors, it's a slightly different scenario.

Are you saying that this happens on regular accounts too?

Yes.

UK users have had the issue for a few years.

Accounts are simply ebay accounts.

Still subject to the whims of the bestial ebay/paypal.

All we need to do is make sure we keep the beasts down.

Try at least a note with your eBay username on it next to the item.

How would a watermark prove ID to ebay after the event of account being limited?

Elijah 01-11-2013 06:45 PM

It wouldn't convince them... you could have taken anybody's photograph and added your watermark.
