| | | | | Karakolio | 01-26-2013 12:56 PM | Linking eBay to Limited PayPal So, my PayPal got limited (that's how I found about this forum like most people). I was selling VeRO items from my real account (everything under my name) and the week before it got limited I sold 350 items in a week, and my monthly limit is 500. Please don't ask why.
Now, I supplied the necessary docs required and still waiting for response, but am 90% sure that the PP acc is gone. I don't have any stealth accounts yet, but I have a shedload of stock, and it is high risk electronics. Even if I open several stealth acc (which I am going to do) I will need at least 3 months to get them up and running to make a decent profit.
What I am planning to do is creating a new PP stealth acc and linking it to my existing eBay, which everyone will say is stupid because eventually they will get linked.
Well, I am willing to sacrifice one bank account even if it works just for 2-3 weeks, I really need to get rid of some stock. If it lasts for a month I'll be more than happy!
So my question is, from your personal experience how long it takes on average for PP or eBay to link the two accounts, given the fact that I'll remove the branding so it will no longer look like I'm selling VeRO and I will stick to the selling limits? I know it is a guess and there is a lot of vagueness, but saying that they'll be linked immediately like some people say here just seems unrealistic to me. Please let me know what your thoughts are based on your experiences.
Thanks :) |
| they_screwed_me_too | 01-26-2013 01:40 PM | can be a day (or less)
can be quite a while
but it will come sooner or later |
If you go the proper stealth way, you will be rolling again in 2-3 months.
If you go the "start selling again quick, problem patching", you will be right back here again in a few weeks asking what to do.
The point being, the quicker you start on the right path, the quicker you'll be rocking "reliably" again... |

So I will still have to take it easy for the first 2-3 months with the new PP ? If I can't sell at least 300-400 hundred after the first month, maybe it's not worth linking it to my eBay acc... |

:fight: | That is correct, my existing PP is flagged, but the new one I create won't be. The question is how long would it take to link them, after I start using the new stealth PP acc to receive payments from my existing well-established eBay acc? |
| GreenBean | 01-27-2013 07:13 AM | Re-read what you said in reply to css1's post. It may not be worthwhile trying this.
the ebay account is flagged should the 1st paypal get limited.
A new one will need to be nutured as it grows. Thus you are taking the chance of another limit. |
| Sandy D | 01-27-2013 12:49 PM | This is the perfect example of why you should have a large amount of back up accounts.
One goes down no worries.
Many here have talked about being stressed out because they get limited and have nothing to turn to.
More accounts and building them over time answers all problems!! |
| Karakolio | 01-28-2013 11:46 AM | I got this message today and I am a bit confused now: Your Account Access is Fully Restored
Thank you for taking the steps to restore your account access. Your patience and efforts increase security for our entire community of users.
PayPal takes the safety of your account, business and financial data as seriously as you do, and these ongoing checks of our system contribute to our high level of security.
And then I got in my email the following: PayPal constantly screens accounts for indications of increased risk and
your account was flagged for review. Please be advised that we have
established a reserve for your PayPal account.
A reserve consists of funds that will remain in your account as a form of
security to ensure PayPal can cover any potential losses, possibly due to
payment reversals, buyer complaints, chargebacks or other payment issues
associated with your account. These funds are not available for withdrawal
or for payment.
This process of holding funds to off-set potential loss is common across
the payments industry, and more information about it can be found on the
PayPal Help Centre.
Based on a review of your account and activity, we have decided that a
reserve of 15% over 90 days will be applied as follows:
Rolling reserve: PayPal will hold your reserve on a rolling schedule. This
means that 15% of the funds you receive each day will be held for 90 Days,
in your 'pending' account balance. On day 91 the amount will be released
back to your available account balance. This will continue with 15% of your
second day's volume being held until day 92, and so on.
The reserve decision outlined will not be eligible for a review within the
next 6 months. If, at that time, you believe there has been an improvement
in your account activity and performance, we will be happy to review.
Please contact us on the phone number below.
When determining why a reserve is required and the amount, a combination of
factors will be taken into account, including the following:
- Refund rates
- Transaction behaviour
- Processing volume
- Business model
- Supplier/ origin of stock
- Customer satisfaction
PayPal has the right to require a reserve according to section 10.4 of our
online User Agreement.
For more legal information on reserves, follow the steps below:
1. Visit www.paypal.co.uk
2. Click 'Legal Agreements' at the bottom of any PayPal page and then
click the 'User Agreement' link.
3. Click 'Your Liability - Actions We May Take'.
4. Scroll down to the 'Reserves' section.
PayPal continues to value your custom, and we look forward to serving you
in future.
Well, I just don't know whether to be happy or not? lol |
| bruceuk | 01-28-2013 12:26 PM | Nothing to be happy or sad about !
Just means there watching you like a hawk for the next 6 months and will gladly hold some of your cash to make sure your behaving yourself .
Persoanally i would try to move things away from this account to stealths .
Because you stated vero items and now your highly flagged. |
| Elijah | 01-28-2013 01:12 PM | It also means that if the account goes down at any time, it's going to go down with at least 15% in it. That could be pretty devastating if you put all your eggs in the one (stealth) basket. |

Thanks :) | There is no average - I have had few instances of experimentation where the account gets toasted RIGHT away and other times where it lasts for few months.
I dont like saying much about linking because its the uneasy feeling of having your funds held due to link being identified - avoid. |
| Karakolio | 01-28-2013 03:46 PM | Well, not sure if the two brands I was selling were actually participating in the VeRO programme, as PP never mentioned anything about VeRO during my limitation period or after.
However, I had quite a few faulty items and refunds, so that is more likely to be the issue. So I am just wondering if it's worth improving the quality of my products, since my eBay account will probably go down at the next evaluation in two months, because I had too many cases opened in the last couple of weeks...
I'll probably call PP and eBay and ask a few questions to see what my situation is and what options do I have. Still, I am not sure this account should be considered dead.. |
| GreenBean | 01-28-2013 04:04 PM | 'Marked' rather than dead.
Such markings can come against you in 12 months (should nothing happen in the interim). |
| Karakolio | 12-02-2013 08:15 PM | Re: Linking eBay to Limited PayPal Here is some update which might be interesting.
I opened up a new eBay personal account in Feb-13 using the same paypal and left my eBay business account cool off, because during the time my paypal was under review I was unable to sell for a long time, and my rating went down.
9 months later my personal account was running pretty well. :humble: I looked at the business account which was starting to recover from the negative feedback and low DSRs, so I decided to start selling from that one too.
Wrong. :nono:
Ebay did not like that and 2 days later both accounts got suspended indefinetely. Not sure why, but most likely because I tried selling the same items from both my personal and business accounts, and I completely forgot that it's not allowed. I contacted customer services several times to be told that I will get an email with an explanation for my suspension, which never happened... :ranger: Quote:

Re: Linking eBay to Limited PayPal You also used the same pp that was linked to an old eb suspended account (implied) - that did not help either :( sad to say | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 01:35 PM. | |
