Last night I sat down in a 10 hour coding session and developed a gift for all of you :) Going stealth is the right path to go... BUT.

Have you felt a bit awkward when you had a friend or your wife sitting on your computer, browsing on eBay.com and on the top left part of the screen there was a "Hi, Anthony" message, when your name is George, for instance ?

How are you going to explain that to your friend or wife ?

You don't even have to... because I have developed a Firefox Add-On that does exactly that !

You simply enter your real name from preferences and it changes the name that the site displays from the stealth name to your real name :)

To install it, simply open Tools => Add-Ons from window options of Firefox and drag and drop it into.

Then enter your name on preferences.

If you guys really like this, I will consider porting to chrome, maybe safari too.

When i look at the spot where the name should be all i see is $$$$$$

I live in Eastern Europe, so double identities and assumed names are a way of life.

Nice gesture .
However if anyone went near my computers they would be having a poke in the eye most promtly ..
And my wife has learned if she doesnt like the answers she doesnt ask the questions ..

This is why, I have a separate selling laptop for all of my ebay selling business. I dont let nobody touch my baby. If my sister or mom wants to use my laptop, I give them the other one. I even take my baby with me everywhere I go also.

Someone could cause untold damage to stealths if they had access to your laptop logging into things they should not be ..
Who knows what they do when your not looking so its just easier to ban them from touching it ..

I was at McDonalds last time and some b*tch stole my laptop with all my stealth stuff on it. I'll never let that happen again.

And plus, I dont want anyone to know what I do, I just tell them I sell on ebay. Plus trying to tell anyone the truth will be impossible to explain. The only thing that will come into their minds is that I use other people's IDs for selling online, which would equal to ID theft.

Trying to explain to people that I do not do ID theft is impossible when they already made up their minds on me. If they want to see something on ebay, I direct them to my buyers only account with my real name on it. If they ask why all of the users accounts on my OS, I tell them "business partners". hahaha

Sounds like a good plan but "business partners" is not a good excuse to tell family members :P

Stealth should be adopted at all given chances .
Especially with family members if they would not understand or comprehend what you are trying to acheive .
Unless its of benefit to me that someone knows my business i will refrain from enlightening them , Including family.

I might agree but I am saying that the above excuse is not good :)

My string of computers are never touched by anyone. They all know better.

Besides everyone in the house has their own personal laptop.

That's the ideal situation.

Wow! Not much trust in the relationship... I taught my lady and now she runs several accounts of her own and we have lots of stealth tips and techniques to share with each other...

There are people who don't... haha :D And I know some of them.

I don't have a wife... so I guess that doesn't applies to me personally :P

My hubby runs a large company and dont have time for ebay etc. He has to deal with lazy people all day long who dont want to work even 8 hours a day let alone earn the pay they are getting.

Does help me pack orders when overwhelmed etc Helps me go get my CL furniture or yard sale buys if needed also.

This is my HOBBY and I dont expect help from others.

Rules in my house is dont touch the room with all the computers at all or life will be heck without supper or clean clothes etc.

Everyone has their own laptop/ipads etc so my string of them is hands off.

testdog - looks cool but I wouldn't download it. It being the forums and all. No keyloggers on it? Or info saving of any kind? And I already told my wife about stealth accounts and so on. So it's not like she won't know or anything like that plus she has her own laptop and dares not to even touch mine!



Elijah - You are pretty cool but outch that sucks man! I hope you didn't dress up the laptop as a chicken nugget!

Laptops are always worth $1,000 and people will steal those! It sucks big time! You can't risk having a laptop like that in public with a wifi connection on top of it with IP addresses of tons of people who go in public. :( Unless you were just uploading work or surfing the web. Still a risk. I wouldn't look on any other website but EB and PP only! Oh and the website where the pictures are uploaded! Oh and the email along + banking for that account!

I am on a fresh Mac OS X installation and it was coded with extra care and directly uploaded to my mediafire account.

If you want to go ahead and download it, you shouldn't worry.

There is a website were people can upload source codes and I remember it was for facebook a game, next thing you know people were complaining of losing their accounts by someone hacking/hijacking it! Due to passwords and account login being sent to a 3rd party.

If admin (aspkin) can approve that it's clean then fine. You building on it an apple system has nothing to do with it. What if you put in a code? You are new on the forums with little amounts of posts I know it's nice to help out and all but most people here are using VPS/VPN so no one else sees this but them.

And I am sure married couple share info saying "Honey I have stealths it's where we been getting all this money from and not standing on the streets late at night..." :pound:

It would say to hear that a few people lost an account or 2 in the coming days after using this add on.

I've seen it in the past happen before. So there is a motive here. Not saying you are putting up something bad but just got to watch out for it.

I wouldn't be in public without taking my eyes off the laptop for 2 seconds, if I did I'd take it to the bathroom with me! I've done that before! People can talk and laugh but better safe then sorry! Man I backup my files everytime I finish up with the day. I have a extra microsd in my phone case on top of my battery. But TDog thanks alot for the add-on but it says "File Blocked for Violation".
