Possibly conned by supplier???

I made a direct bank transfer to a new supplier on tuesday. I emailed the supplier on tuesday to ask for confirmation of receipt.

I emailed again on wedneday and in the end i rang them and they said something about thursday. I heard nothing yesterday so i emailed late last night and still no reply.

Would i be out of order ringing today?

Does anyone know if a direct bank deposit can be reversed. I'm guessing at no.

GreenBean 02-01-2013 05:53 AM

Speak to your bank first .

Get the bank to check the estimated time of a direct deposit to go to another bank.

If you did this transfer after 4:00pm on Tuesday, it may have missed being done that day.
A (techincal) transfer may not have started until Wednesday.
Have the bank check everything and then act.

I will just semise that they received yesterday then because of a delay. I will ring again on monday.

arshavin 02-01-2013 06:25 AM

I just remembered that we both had the same bank so the deposit would be instant i imagine!?

Technically yes - if not instant, actually very quick.

How well do you know the seller? Hmm

arshavin 02-01-2013 07:08 AM

I have never dealt with them before.

They supposedly supply a item which i have been struggling to find for a few months. They do not openly sell this item. It has took months of searching and messaging to actually get to the point of making a payment.

Bunneh 02-01-2013 07:09 AM

Is the seller in the UK?

You can open a dispute at the bank but it will take a month or so while the investigate?

arshavin 02-01-2013 07:11 AM

Yes it is a UK seller.

In my shoes now what would you do? It is too soon to make a complaint to the bank i feel?

Bunneh 02-01-2013 07:18 AM

Well at least you are pretty much covered being in the UK.
I would search there site for processing times etc...

But to be honest if delivery was meant to be Thursday & you only emailed them late last night, you probably will get a response today since you are not there only customer and not everyone works 24/7 lol...

I would see what happens on Monday / Tuesday and then take it from there.

I wouldn't open a dispute just yet though. Its to soon.

arshavin 02-01-2013 08:19 AM

They don't have a website. It's a bit complicated haha

I won't open a dispute just yet. I will phone them on monday/tuesday like you said. Thanks.

I know that generally a bank transfer has no recourse if you do not get the goods but logically would someone give you their bank details if they wanted to scam you. I mean they could have been paid in more disposible ways if that were the case. This is a regular UK bank right?

Stigger 02-01-2013 08:31 AM

Just so you know, you don't have a leg to stand on with the bank as its not a unauthorised transaction :(

police won't even get involved :(

X whatevery you can......

Good luck.

Its a sure fire way of getting the money quick, so why not ? (If your a scammer that is).

arshavin 02-01-2013 10:23 AM

Seriously the police won't do anything?

I just rang then and he said that the goods where sent today and i should receive monday.

I am not totally convinced of this because he has not replied to 3-4 emails of mine. Fingers crossed they do arrive on monday.

rsot 02-01-2013 10:48 AM

Forget about opening a bank dispute by the way - you arent protect like that.

Wait and keep trying for now.

Bank specifically makes you sign a form when you send money (unless you did online?) that they are not liable.

Not a sausage.

you mught be getting twitchy about nothing but lern something from this, never rush in and always pay with Credit card if you can, at least that way you have some sort of back up.
