Unlocking Your Mobile Phone Is No Longer Legal

Unlocking Your Mobile Phone Is No Longer Legal | Threat Level | Wired.com

Great news for USA:) what do you think guys :juggle:

It's only illegal if you get caught!

AmazonStealth 02-04-2013 09:26 PM

You really think a carrier will sue you for unlocking a phone that you on using on their carrier? No way in hell. Carriers could give two sh!ts about the phone. They care about the plans, and as long as you have one with them nothing else matters to the big companies.

Unless I am missing something here, I feel like this is a pointless law, and time should have been spent on much more useful things. The phone is technically yours, and as long as you arent using it to commit crimes, you should be able to do what you want with it. Thats like saying you can not customize your house, car, etc.

the article even says that something similar was done in the past and the carriers will not be going after people, HOWEVER it is something that can be held against you. they just to create angles to catch people on when they can not prove them guilty for what they want

Don't see how it can be illegal...especially if you buy the phone at full retail price. I am with VZW, buy all of my phones through other online retailers at full price (well actually below retail). Root them all. Illegal, pff...I own the damn thing.

you are talking a little too much common sense...this is a business world, not reality

Gamefreak 02-05-2013 01:30 AM

every and anything is ONLY really illegal if you get caught.. same as speeding, dui, smoking pot or any other laws out there...

Stealing isn't legal

There is something cooking legislation wise up here in Canada about these phone companies putting people on contract and then people having to deal with a locked phone after it is done
