Help Needed! I got a Scary Email! VERO

Hi,
So I have been sent a very scary email from a law firm saying they are suing me because of copyright laws. I will admit I have been selling ⊗⊗⊗⊗ items on ebay, but I stopped as soon as Vero took them down. In the email they said they have sent me a letter in the mail but this account is straight stealth so of course the address is not mine. Can this law firm sue me even if they do not have my real details? Like the account is all stealth. In the email they are demanding no less than $20,000 and I have to respond in 7 days. What do I do????? Can they find me if The account are not in my real details. I only sold 20 of these items for 25$ each!!!!!!!

You have a bank account tied to your PP, correct?

Can this law firm sue me even if they do not have my real details?

It would not surprise me if PP have released your 'incorrect' details to the firm hence them serving any notices there.

I'd think they would need a court order to get access to your banking details.

I'd remove the bank account from the PP A/C & close both EB/PP A/C & lie low.

Lawyers love to act tough. They'll throw everything at you including the kitchen sink.

I have my lawyer send Bully letters all the time.

Most just want to intimidate you to STOP what you're doing.

Under a court order Ebay/PP is required to release your information. Almost never happens, especially for the pitiful amount of money in your situation.

With that said, you may want to contact your Local Bar Association and seek advice. In the USA most larger cities will have lawyers who will give you an initial consult for less than $50.00

I'll bet nothing further happens as long as you suspend selling.

I'm sure if you do a Google you'll find one.

We should have a Section in this forum for Lawyers. So many foo-foos and Vero being sold.

I don't ebay but I'm finding it harder to believe that any items on Ebay are legit.

Okay So I will delete both my eBay and PayPal accounts. What about my iP address. I used a tethered internet connection off my iPhone. Can they track me from that in any way?

Unless they are Limited, I would NOT cancel these accounts.

All your info has been recorded, deleting accounts will not change this.

Don't be intimidated by a lawyer.

If you get a C&D (Cease and Desist) letter sent to you personally then 100% contact a lawyer.

Even if they had all your correct info, I still wouldn't worry about it one bit.
You unknowingly sold a few items that you had no idea were not completely legit.

You were made to stop selling by Vero. You completely agreed and stopped selling the item in question

A better question might be what businesses Haven't I run?

I'm a partner in several businesses, used to have my own business for many years with lots of employees and lots of nightmares.

In addition, I'm a business consultant so I feel like I'm a partner in these businesses also.

Lawyers spend 7/8ths of their career making threats. Very few cases ever go to court.

Over 90% of all lawsuits are settled before any trial. That's how the system is designed to work.

If you get any notice that has your real info (name, address, phone, banking details) see a Lawyer asap.
