Replying to eBay Messages via hotmail...
Hi guys,
I was looking for the thread when stealthers were discussing responding to eBay messages via their personal email (as opposed to repsonding via 'my messages' in eBay).
How much of a link does this give to IP?
Reason is, I was truly stuck yesterday. I had an appointment that I could not miss and I had an eBay member kicking up a stink that I could not make wait until I returned home.
So, sat in hospital waiting room, (like a dufus by the looks of it), I logged into my hotmail emails via a local wifi and noticed the idiot eBay had left me FIVE messages. It was only regarding postage and I had already given him the tracking number.
Now he wanted the link to check the delivery (yup! He couldn't even figure that out on Royal Mail Website). So I sent him the tracking link by clicking 'reply' in my hotmail. This then sends it to some address like kilokmember78865478**hyup@ebay.com I'm assuming this then lands in his 'My messages' box on ebay.
When I got home (about five hours later), all my auctions have been removed (MC067)and I've been slammed with MC999 suspension.
Did the wifi reply play a role in this? The account was set up using a T-mobile dongle and the wifi I logged into was a local one about 50 miles away from where the account was 'supposed' to be located.
Cheers
