| aniseed | 03-27-2013 04:52 PM | Stealth address Can paypal see your real address from the bank?
Ok I'm not really going to ask that, but probably an equally annoying noobish question!
Are stealth address actually stealth, or should they really exist? eBay sent a welcome letter to my address, I'd be worried about someone getting suspicious or returning it undelivered.
My first stealth has been a creative way of my real address, with real post code. Bank account verified straight away of course, but should I verify the card? Surely the wrong address would stop the card payment (as happened to my oh when we moved and she didn't tell the cc her new address).
Dunno if things are different in UK. |
| GreenBean | 03-27-2013 04:56 PM | You do realise that at a manual review, your address variation will be detected?
Not such a good idea.
Prefrable to have a real address that you can access. So, yeah, the address must exist. |
| aniseed | 03-27-2013 05:02 PM | Good point I was thinking make it so a human can get it right, ie the postman, thinking only robots at ebay and paypal would read it
I don't have any alternate real address I can access, all my family and friends have ebay account plus I wouldn't want to compromise them anyway. Plus some on here have 100 paypal accounts what addresses are they using? Do people just open up the phone book with a blindfold on? Something I'm missing |
| GreenBean | 03-27-2013 05:07 PM | Taking any old address is ID theft.
Users doing that do not stay on the forum.
You need to look at other options. There are many.
:ranger: |
| aniseed | 03-27-2013 05:14 PM | Well the address must either not exist or belong to somebody else. Only other thing I can think of is further variations of my own.
Been on here all day my heads spinning, this seems to be the missing jigsaw piece for me |
| GreenBean | 03-27-2013 05:29 PM | No you are missing the point.
Do not use old linked suspended info on new stealth accounts.
You have to find an address that you can access. This is what other users have to do.
:spy: |
| aniseed | 03-27-2013 07:09 PM | The only other thing I can think of is buying a virtual one, but for new accounts limited to 10 or so sales its not cost effective in the short term. |
| aniseed | 03-27-2013 07:23 PM | Well my first stealth account lasted about 6 hours! Got this email
MC124

I have no other banned accounts so it must be either the address or that I listed straight away. Selling iphone accessories. I'm confident the rest was safe, new user account on a new virtual pc with new ip, phone number and email.
In just hoping my main account doesn't get flagged. |
| Sandy D | 03-27-2013 09:03 PM | Wait a second.
You sold iphone accessories on a new account and you think it might be the address?
Nope.
Bad category to be listing anything iphone on a new account.
Not many ever survive that. |
| aniseed | 03-28-2013 05:16 AM | That's how I started my genuine account (before I'd heard of stealth), used my allowance in 1 weekend.
eBay rang me the next day to check it was really me and told me what a great job I was doing. Mind you I'd linked to my long standing buyers account too.
Only reason I'm doing this is to not keep my eggs in one ebay account!
Well my next bank account is now open, just need a sim card and to figure out how to get an address. |
| Ebayorbust | 03-28-2013 05:20 AM | Ebay UK are slapping more and more new accounts with a MC124 Verify Identity request.
Regarding address. Choose one that ideally you have access to. Do NOT use the details of a real person out of the phone book as this is ID THEFT. |
| aniseed | 03-28-2013 05:40 AM | Ok no phone book addresses - check
Literally everyone I know already has an eBay account, so short of buying a second house, I can't use an address I have 'access' to either.
Does everyone else buy a virtual address? Surely after a couple of hundred stealth accounts by various members are opened at each of the addresses (which are all the same apart from the name at the top) ebay will soon figure they aren't real addresses and shut them down.
Some people on here have told how they have 50 or 100 accounts, surely they don't have 50 or 100 different addresses they all have access to. Plus all the advice about including a real return address for high value items wouldn't be here if we were all using addresses we have access to.
I've also read on here that eBay UK uses royal mails post code / address verifier, so ⊗⊗⊗⊗ addresses would be flagged up anyway. |
| Ebayorbust | 03-28-2013 05:49 AM | You've misread what I said. |
