Opening an online business

Bit of a newbie to some of this but we are in the process of getting a small warehouse and with that being said, I'd like to just open an online business and file taxes as such. Where can I go about getting this set up? The problem is that I don't know where to start. I know the basics (need EIN to file taxes as business), but I don't know HOW I can go about it or where. I've searched the forums or I may not be searching properly. Help is much appreciated

You can get EIN information on the IRS website- you can set up your EIN there, well you used to be able to, haven't tried lately.

Yup - just looked it up. YOu can still do it online

Apply for an Employer Identification Number (EIN) Online

Great thanks for that info- I looked into that and I knew I needed an EIN number but how do I go about actually making a business corporation/llc/partnership? And which one do most people use? (I'm assuming here we need to have a business to get an EIN right?)

I was leaning towards an LLC but I don't actually know HOW I can actually get one.

You can talk to someone at legal zoom.com or find a local accountant , asking here won't get you a good answer that works for u

Forum stays away from giving acutal tax advice.

I usually suggest starting with

Internal Revenue Service

Most comprehensive site & user friendly. They have a toll free number too.
Then you can move on to taking professional tax advice either from a local person or via the services of legal zoom.
