Selling Used electronics

Hello

I have several different stealth accounts on ebay/pp.

However I am trying to broaden my scope and sell other items besides what i normally sell

I am just going to list my USED iphone since i am trying to be rid of it.

Are there any tricks to listing it that I should know? It is used, but in good condition. I wanted to list as auction . I have other electronics too, but want to list em only 1 per account ( they are all used )

I dont want to list it and have it cause problems as my other listings are doing fine.

Also -- do you think that paypal will limit my account bc the price of that item will be quite different than my normal transactions??

Thanks..

For me, personally?
Its too risky. I wouldn't use ebay for these types of items.
Too many issues can and will most likely happen.

But, My advice i guess would be:

Take down EACH AND EVERY serial number. (I think there is an option to give/register the police in your area in case the phone is 'stolen') so you can avoid the 'switch a roo'.

Naturally, Get signature conformation and place insurance on every package.

Ship only to confirmed addys. (obvious)

Important: TAKE A SCREENCAP OF THE SELLER PROTECTION PAGE THAT SAYS YOU ARE ELIGIBLE IN GREEN. this has a habit of disappearing once a case is open. Show it to paypal and you might win certain disputes.

I would not ship these internationally if you can help it.

Take down the weight and keep all records of every phone. (If you can, make a short vid of it coming on and off for the buyers.

Check out every purchasers Feedback (if auction listing) to see if there are any problems with that ID getting chargebacks/complaints. Too many complaints? Remove bidder and block.

Same with questions: Too many questions usually end up in chargebacks and heartache. Make sure you describe the listings to a T. If its in the listing and youre asking me anyway, you want to cause issues and are not worth my time.

Make sure you google your customers to also see if there are any complaints/issues.

Due diligence. If you feel like a sale might go wrong, do not sell it.

If the paypal amount is higher than your usual bring ins monetary wise, you might set off a buzzer with them and trigger a limitation.

You should wait for others to chime in, but, good luck.

LOL all great advice but Paypal will give buyer money back anyway

no risk
describe it properly and send it with tracking

cjmixers covered all the bases. signature delivery and insurance. I would strongly advise against international shipment. If you are on a new eBay account I don't know if I would risk listing an iphone. Craigslist and cash in person if it is just a one off.

Selling used Electronics is my speciality. :)

But even I wouldn't sell a high demand iPhone on eBay. To much risk vs. reward with lots of scammers looking specifically for these.

Sell it on CraigsList or to one of your buddies and avoid the hassle.

+1 on the craigslist, thats what I do for all big ticket electronic items, cash in hand and no fees

Electronics itself, even used, is a tuff area unless you have a very seasoned account.

I would not touch the phone or phone accessory category if I had a building full.

Not worth the hassle to me.

It is a matter of preparation and knowing the risk(s).

Another user is considering a similar listing.

Thanks for all the advice. I think I will wait for now. I dont care much for craigslist as I am not comfortable meeting strangers ..

I was planning on only selling to US locations and that signature confirmation as well.

My main concern is with paypal limiting my account for receiving amount not in my normal range

Try a different accepted payment processor for you eB sales of the iPhone then - Skrill, Propay, Paymate - maybe some better luck there for accepting payment. Just make it clear to the buyer on the listing. An option worth considering.
