New PayPal limitation email...

Logged in this evening to this email:

Dear **************,

We recently noticed an issue with your account.

What's the problem?

Because of an unusual pattern of activity in your PayPal account we need
your help to quickly prevent the possibility of unauthorised access.

Reference Number: PP-***********

To see what you can and can't do while your account is limited, please go
to the Resolution Centre.

You'll be able to withdraw money from your account within 180 days. We'll
email you when it's available. We just want to make sure that you have
money in your account to cover any payment reversals.

Yours sincerely,
PayPal

First thought it was a 'verify your details' email - from the first paragraph.

Then read the 180 days bit. confused dot com....

Logged into PP and got a message saying THIS LIMITATION CANNOT BE APPEALED AGAINST and there was nothing in the 'TO DO' list for the limitation.

Do they suspect it was me who sold two rucksacks to the Chechnyan bombers????

mattytman 04-26-2013 03:31 PM

P.s. there was only 1 transaction for around £200 - and that was today. The account is new...but this message is very bizarre to me.

Simple! Don't sell ⊗⊗⊗⊗!

BiN4RY 04-26-2013 03:58 PM

Where in the thread has the op mentioned or showed anything about selling ⊗⊗⊗⊗?

Kind of hard on the accusation - I searched through some older posts of mattytman too - dont see mention of f*kes or so either....

I don't think you can get a f a k e version of what I sell. Thanks for the useless comment though - I'll add it to 99.9% of the other sh ite you talk on here.

Anyone from planet earth...feel free to chime in.

Somehow you got linked or something weird happened. Do figure it out before you make another.

GreenBean 04-26-2013 04:11 PM

Not new. 3rd one I have seen. Others were new accounts. Outright ban with no Appeal.

Anything different in the account creation?

On one I mentioned a call did get it reversed but it took hard work

Not happy with this trend. Could be problematic down the track
Btw was the PayPal fully verified/ confirmed

BiN4RY 04-26-2013 05:41 PM

OP:

How new was the account and what category/type of item did you sell?
Did you make the account yourself or did you buy it? Please tell us how you made and used the account in detail

I can assure you that I do not sell ⊗⊗⊗⊗ anymore! All of my products are generic. I used to sell ⊗⊗⊗⊗ in the past. This is how I started but once I realized it wasn't worth it I decided to concentrate only on unbranded products.

It was semi high risk... I can't really say what it was because I am sailing alone in the sea of this category...

I say 'semi' because when I've took payments 'below' £300 in this category I've never had a single issue before.

I created the account myself as opposed to buying it. In fact, I told the buyer to pay to my email because they were having issues via the invoice. My email address was blahblahXX@gmail.com and blahblahblahX@gmail.com (miss a letter). They seemed to not understand so I just created a new PayPal from the 'claim my money' link. I know its not not a great idea but the buyer was really dumb...

I had the wrong sim card in my phone...so the diverted voice call from VOIP would have gone straight to voicemail. Maybe PP tried to call.

It's kind of sucky because the technophobe buyer doesn't understand that now the option of 'sending refunds' isn't there! DOH! I have to get them to open a dispute to get their money back.

rsot 04-27-2013 08:57 AM

The category listing also would determine and influence pp's decision - even if your item is genuine, the category itself is known to affect the appeal decision.

Fiddling like that with emails & invoices on new accounts puts paypal right off. They always cover their backs first.

No doubt that is what triggered it... Gotta love those customers. Cant live with them, cant live without them!
