why cant i get a new ebay account running..what am i doing wrong

Hi guys, 1st off eveyone has been great with any posts i have made ...ok

last night i tried to establish a 3rd account for ebay

i did everything right

1) new name and address
2) bought a trac phone...new number
3) new bank account ( checking account)
4) new paypal account
5) confirmed my PP account with my online banking account
6) confirmed with a 4 digit pin for ebay
7) listed last night and i got mc999 ( please call us we need to talk to you )

I dont know what im doing wrong did this process 2 times and still got the same results...do you think its because im doing my bank account confirmation online for instant apporval? Should i wait and just do the 3-4 business days for pp to make the deposits?

help me guys

thanks

Did you use a new windows user account and make sure you were creating the EB from a different IP address?

MM78 05-06-2013 11:35 AM

As of lately most accounts are getting this message, I believe it's a way to tighten on new sellers.

Suggestion:
Make a new account but instead of using your real bank account to verify the Paypal, use a VBA. Also, suggest you create a user account and get some browsing history on the account.

You can't just go gun-ho on a new account. Me personally, I do at least 5-10 purchases before I sell and I usually list used items.

rsot 05-06-2013 12:09 PM

Personally, I would not list right away - I like purchasing and browsing on the account for about 4 weeks (sometimes as early as 3) before I start listing and then...I list something LOW RISK. I suspect you are trying to make a big sale right away....maybe something high risk...that could lead to mc999 even if your account is stealth.

(And NO I am not asking what you are selling - that's your business)

danshan 05-06-2013 12:34 PM

mc 999 is very common just call you will be fine have all your info in front of you when you do

ZoonVoo 05-06-2013 12:45 PM

You did great, but you missed one thing, to wait 4 days and then start listing

100% Agreed. I personally make strictly backup eBay buying accounts to sit on the sideline for months if not years before I even get around to using them.

Browsing history, purchasing items even cheap ones. Help avoid the dreaded MC999. This seems to have become more and more common.

I highly suggest as well at least for the first few sales to list only one or two items at a time. Also make sure they are used items or some random household goods. You want eBay to think you are average joe just getting rid of some unwanted items.

Don't quote me on this but I heard through the grape vine that you want to avoid Buy It Now listings for at least a couple of months. Stick to running auctions until you have at least 100~ or so feedback

MM78 05-06-2013 02:59 PM

The grapevine must be smoking something funny..."100~ feedback"? don't think so.

Most of mine are minimum 1 month old + 10 buyer feedbacks, then I list BINs.

BigCJ 05-06-2013 03:01 PM

Tips:

1: Wait a few days to a month to list items.

2: Use ebay's standard formats. (NO EXTRAS)
A: Do not use BIN, only auctions
B: 0.99 auctions (tangible with at least $1.50 shipping)

3: Nothing high risk (obvious)

4: List the auction as a 7 day (no 3 day, no 5 day. You look as if you are trying to make a quick buck with the new account)

5: When/if they do give you the message, Play stupid and have your info in front of you when you call.

Speeder33 05-06-2013 03:17 PM

one of the things i found really helpful is to wait 30 days from creation to 1st listing. This seems to heavily cut down on my mc999

What are you doing for the internet? Nothing there in this plan stated?

No consolation but in the early days of the forum we always used to wait 30 days or longer to list.

Fast forward to this time, and I still practise this method.
Never have issues.

@ZoonVoo ....thank you , i will try that but now i have to out and buy a new trac phone...thank goodness there like 10 bucks lol. I will wait about 1 to 2 weeks , ive even heard sometime 3 weeks to a month...also using just straight auctions no BIN helps with 7 days on it ...thoughts?

Pasicel 05-06-2013 11:10 PM

For every phone you should be able to verify at least 2 accounts...

1 using real phone #
1 using google voice

every $ counts when you're starting off

last3379 05-07-2013 12:29 AM

You are listing too soon friend..

jamblix 05-07-2013 12:35 AM

I always wait for the deposits, but I don't think that's the reason why your accounts are getting tagged. Yes, definitely take the precautions stated above, wait a few days at least, browse and etc.

I have a feeling it's something a bit more then that though. My best suggestion is to take a look at your competition and research how they are selling, you might find certain patterns...

Waiting 3 weeks is a good move - not sure on that avoidance of BiN suggestion - been awhile since I started BiN as a first sale...always auction style listings have been my choice for the first few auctions (not because I avoid BiN but because of my own preference of listing)

Athletichunta 05-09-2013 05:06 PM

Did you use the same password?.

My question would be what did you list?

A new item?
Risky item?
What category?
Name brand item?

Food for thought.

You can add google voic numbers to your trac phon. Additional numbers at no cost.

rsot 05-10-2013 02:43 PM

dreamzilla, getting good advice here - hope you are checking in - still waiting on some info to the questions asked by others

turkeyhunt 05-15-2013 07:36 PM

You can call me greedy or what not, but I tend to list within the first few days.

From my experience, it hasnt mattered if i did a 7 day low risk auctionn or a buy it now higher risk.

From the many reps I heard from, its just their way to check on new sellers and they do it (normally) within 5 days of listing.. . Its not big deal. They just ask basic questions and I always have my information in front of me .

But I just have my stealth info, act real dumb and nice and ask questions to get them to spill info lol.
