eBay allow buyer to change their member ID ? so what's the point to block bad buyers

I just found out eBay buyers can change their member ID easily.
So what is the point to block bad buyers in eBay since they could always change their member ID then come back again and again to get free stuff ?
sigh ..................

If someone changes the user name you can see what the previous one was for 30 days I believe.

I dont know for sure but I believe even if their user name changes their blocks stick with the account possibly.

This is how I found out.
I recently had 2 eBay disputes filed by 2 different buyers.
They both have the same situation.
The eBay member ID filed eBay dispute is different from the member ID they used to do the purchase. And I used Paypal transaction ID to allocate the transaction in Paypal, I shockly found out the eBay member ID used to place the orders are not the same as the ID filed eBay dispute.
So I put the old member ID into my block list and submit, guess what, both the old member IDs do not exist in eBay anymore, so 2 cases make me believe buyers can easily change their eBay membner ID ..... So it means bad buyers can change their ID and come back hurt us sellers, playing the old tricks again and again......
Sigh ..................................

Damn so from what I understand. The ******* opened a case and got his stuff free. The ******* is still mad and changes his ID because he knows you blocked him. ******* buys again and does it again!

They can only change it once every 30 days so that helps some...

I have not looked into it in a long while but I thought before the change follows with the blocked list.

User 12345 changes name becomes 56789, it will change in your blocked list I thought.

Unless it has changed I believed that is the way it used to be.

I called them "professional buyers".

ebay is just making life easier for prof buyers, why would they allow this

If this buyer is doing this, you need to report it to Ebay.

This is nothing new, you've alway's been able to change your username.

There are some advantages to sellers changing their name as well. :spy:

.

Nope. That stopped just on two years ago. (give or take).

If you have blocked buyers, it is essential to monitor your lists.

That is if they are still around

ps, It is possible to check the ID history of any user provided you are signed into ebay. Therefore use your brain if you ever do this :spy:

There are very few that think this far. However yes it is possible. I could never monitor my block list as it has 100's per account.

I agree with you pepsimax - I just put the name and forget it...no time to check each user...not much reason to either

I do not have many on the list(s).

It is suitable for my methods to check from time to time.

To each their own

:peace:

As Ron Popeil would say in his infomercials for a certain kitchen over: 'Set it and forget it'

I have a list of idiot buyers in a particular area I sell in. Many idiot scammers who love to bait and switch items.

Tons of sales in that area so it is worth it to have a list on the wall.

When I have blocked bidders I used to get hey, you blocked me from bidding. Why?

Now this post comes up and when I list Sunday night I took a peak at a few of my accounts and bidders. For some reason a few have changed their name as the user name does not come up and it is has been past the time to show a change.

I remember them by name and town, state etc.

Best part is once I block my buyers in this area they seem to never come back and try it again so that is a good thing.

Ridiculous we have to make list at all but for me some of the rare antique items I sell I dont want to sell to a known bait and switch artist so I have to keep an eye on them. Others seem to know think once you block them they are done. They have not found out the new professional buyers way of screwing sellers..... Thank goodness.

That is a good thing - I have found the same too - once blocked 99% of bidders just stay away...I am sure it also depends on your competition. If you are selling in a saturated selling market then prepare to get toyed around with.
