Should I buy an aged paypal, or create a new stealth?

Hi,

I have a business where I sell a relatively high ticket item ($997)and I need a new paypal account. I sell this item through my own website and not ebay.

Would it be best to buy an aged paypal account and accept payments with it? Or should I open a new stealth account?

I already have a bank of america savings account setup to link to the paypal.

I want to be able to withdraw money from sales within a reasonable amount of time. I was thinking $300 of the $997 straight away to the bank account, then a siphoning of $100 per day until around $150 is left in paypal and I stop withdrawing until the next sale comes.

Does this sound about right?

Will an aged paypal account help in being able to get the money out and into my savings without getting limited? Or is a new stealth account acceptable as long as it's built properly?

Your help is very much appreciated and I wish you an excellent day!

Make your own paypal account and work your way through the ranks and earn their trust for higher ticket items.

Too many unknowns when you are purchasing other peoples accounts.

While not FULLY in control, you will have a GREATER amount of control over your own accounts.

What if someone has a load of strikes on their account and just want to dump it on you for a quick buck?

What if the IP ranges are too far off and you trigger a review/limitation?

If you are selling on your own website, use another payment processor until you build up your desired revenue and earn their trust to handle such large amounts.

Good luck :)

Avoid at ALL costs buying an aged paypal account.

Make your own account.

Also if this is going on your own website, consider having other payment options too.

BUT: we need to know a bit more.

Have you already had a paypal account attached to this website?

What's the background?

:juggle:

Thanks for the replies!

I have not had a paypal attached to the site up to this point. I have a merchant account already but I get people wanting to use paypal on a regular basis.

In what way should I go about breaking in a new stealth account? How long would be appropriate before accepting bigger ticket payments?

I appreciate your expertise!

Andrew

Actually you are at a good place to be.

All of this in real info?

I tend to ask too many questions. But it's to help you make good working choices.

Yes, all legit info on the merchant account and no paypal association as of yet.

Creating your own accounts is always better and you learn about stealth in the process.

About your statement above...that is very fast on a new account - you will have to BUILD to that level... first withdrawal of less than $250 is a good working rule...but a lot depends on your average sale amount

How long does it generally take to build up the trust level on an account. I've seen some contradictory claims in my research. Some say you can do it in just over a month, and others say to ramp it up over 90 days.

How long until you gain at least moderate levels of trust?

Why add PP? I laugh any time go to merchant only takes PP. Having own merchant account means you had human approve you merchant account. A village idiot can have a PP acct. I not bought before when they only take PP and keep looking. I wish I did not need pp and every day my sales elsewhere increases one day might not need them. If do not have them in your life keep it that way.

Here it is, from my experience and this is stealth it took little over 90 days of selling to release the holds however this I's from Ebay sales. Now I have sold outside of ebay by sending an invoice from my Paypal to the buyers Paypal and there was no holds. So you are not selling on ebay from what I gather so you should be ok, but it seems your transactions are on the high end I think u said around $900 so I'm not sure but you may have to build up some credibility first. And again another BUT if your using your real information this will be a lot easier to build credibility with Paypal and the holds are released in weeks rather than months from my experience

Hope that made some sense there are so many factors when dealing with Paypal your mind goes in 50 directions at once

zozja 06-01-2013 10:56 PM

That does make sense... Thanks!

It seems paypal is a little less strict outside of ebay. Interesting.

What you could do is make your own rolling reserve. it will show pp that you are not going to run off with the cash

If you sell something for 200 only take out 60 after like 3 days after the item is delivered, then keep the amounts around that much for about a month
(just an example)

A very good point - should not be relying on PP when you do not have to - even though many customers still love it like a pillow

Do not be fooled into thinking that.

paypal applies holds to whatever transactions it wants.

On ebay or off ebay, holds HAPPEN.

Your have to work out how to deal with this.

Options do exist. Concentrate on having another payment processor too

CCNow is nice for you to explore - bit higher fees though

jjohnson777 06-02-2013 09:39 PM

PP 80% my business

Before StormPay closed 75% StormPay / 25% PP due to StormPay free auctions.

Hate think how business be if they were still around.

Google Wallet starting to increase in few years might not need PP.

I am hopeful for Google Wallet to be of use in the future.

Might be a successful mix for our business needs.

Hope it is for you too

I found them great in their early days.

Gradually they changed.

They did harm to our business.

We terminated their usage.
