Can paypal link an EIN and an SSN?

I have a suspended ebay and paypal account form a while back. I am using my friend's account with his legit info (including SSN). I cannot provide my SSN as they will link it easily. I don't want my friend to pay taxes on this, so I need to put an EIN on the paypal account so I pay the taxes. Right?

If I get an EIN will paypal be able to ask the IRS for any information that could expose me? Specifically, I'm concerned with my name and SSN. The irs form states that my first name, last name and SSN must match irs records. If I put my real name and SSN on the application for the EIN (which I think I have to), will the IRS provide that info to paypal so they can cross reference it with their naughty list? What will the IRS tell paypal about a given EIN?

Thanks!

I'm seeing in other posts that the SSN is safe, the IRS won't release that. But what else matters. My address is clean, so that's fine. What do I do about my name? The paypal account is under my friends name. Do I make the EIN with my name or a varient of my name? The IRS requires the name be reasonably close to what's linked to my SSN.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Yes, you usually have to list your SSN when applying for an EIN. And no, eBay/PayPal CANNOT get any information from the IRS - they can only verify the information they are given. Either it matches or it doesn't.

Always always avoid ever giving paypal your SSN. Never do that.

paypal take your EIN Info.

They ask the IRS is this info correct YES or NO.

response from IRS is merely one of those YES or NO.

You have issues with using your friend's name though.

Why? The EIN given to paypal should match the name of the paypal user.

I have my friend's legit SSN on the account. So I can make an EIN with my SSN (not a match), a variation of my name (not a match), and her address (yes a match). Keep in mind that paypal already has my friends SSN and isn't asking me for anything right now. What will happen if I enter that EIN on my paypal?

What is the no on the name match going to do? They can either say it doesn't match (which I can live with), or they can say this is suspicious and investigate further and possibly find me out. Should I do it?

Oh wow - she let you do that? Sigh - not good if she gets hit with tax reporting...or worse if account goes down and she wants to sell. Don't use family or friend info for the future....fundamental stealth concept

Yeah, she's pretty cool. But don't I need a real SSN anyway? Sooner or later, every pp account needs an SSN, right? And I'm pretty sure that has to be real, right?

But can anybody answer my other question, how do I get the taxes off my friend and onto me?

What u need to seriously do is stop all listings immediately anything sold ship out and that's it stop selling on this account there's no need to possibly destroy ur friends credit, chances of ever selling on ebay in the future ( hey u never know what may happen in the future) and ultimately a lost friendship.

Just make sure everything sold is shipped and all buyers satisfied and pay all ebay fees and that is it just keep an eye on the account for any late returns cases down the road, so close up shop neatly on this account being careful to pay anything owed

Now open as many stealth accounts as needed based on your business plan, you will probably start off with 10/1000 on each account so if u need 300 items/$30,000 a month than open 30 accounts and back up accounts and u will have your limits , as time goes by especially lately ebay is giving all kinds of raises so if u see that after 3 or more months you want to add a EIN choose your best account but keep operating the others it's always good to spread out sales over multiple accounts , operating one large limit account is no good if u get suspended your business is over.

Anyway the moral of the story don't use anyone's information, make multiple stealths and spread ur sales

SSN needs to be real. EIN correctly used is the method

Tax issues like yours are not within our remit

You need to take professional advice
